Futsal Tournament
Campsbourne took part in a Futsal tournament
last Saturday as part of the Crouch End Festival.
In keeping with the Latin theme of the day,
Campsbourne represented Brazil which meant
that we had our very own marvellous Samba
Band, The Sambassadors, to support us!
We had an exciting morning and got through to
the Finals. After a nail-biting match, we came
away with our silver medals and an award
ceremony on the main stage. Thanks to all the
parents who came to watch and support as well.

Reception
Week Beginning: 04/07/16
Next week reception will be reading the story Eat Your Peas by Kes Gray. In literacy we will be
exploring our favourite and least favourite foods and writing about them. In expressive arts and
design we will be creating pea and carrot designs and in maths we will be exploring addition.
Cooking club will continue as usual on Wednesday. Please remember that we have our trip to
Willows Farm on Friday 8Th July. It would be great if children could bring a ruck sack with their
packed lunch in it. Many thanks. Have a great week! The Reception Team.
Literacy: We are reading and retelling the story Into The Forest by Anthony Browne. We will be
using a story map to help us do this.
Maths: We will be looking at money and calculating change from a £10 pounds and £20
pounds.,
Geography: We will be looking at the life cycle of a penguin and its habitat.
Science: We are continuing to look at plants and seed dispersal.
PSHE: To understand that it is alright to be different.
RE: We will be learning why a synagogue is important to Jewish people.
Julie and Christina’s Literacy groups will be continuing to look at how to write a fantasy story,
looking specifically at settings and characters. We will continue to focus on the multiplication
tables of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 in Maths Mastery. In our History lesson we be looking at the evacuation
of children in WW2 and role playing to help us write a diary entry from the view point of an
evacuee child. In computing we will explore all the things we have learnt when using Microsoft
Word. We will also be continuing to practise for our end of year show.
Maths: In Maths we will be learning about capacity. The children will be measuring, comparing
and estimating capacity, as well as solving addition and subtraction word problems.
Literacy: We will be completing our unit of work on Myths and Legends. The children will be
reviewing and re-drafting sections of their Myth and then writing their final version.
Topic: The children will be finding out about mountains of the world and different types of
mountains.
Reminder: Year 3 trip on Wednesday (6th). Please ensure your child is in school at the earlier time
of 8:45am so that we can register the children and be ready to leave promptly at 9:00am. They
will need to wear comfortable/sensible footwear and be dressed appropriately for the weather.
We will be returning to school at the later time of 4:00pm. Thank you!
Maths: We will develop our knowledge of coordinates.
English: We are going to write a story inspired by a narrative poem The Inchcape Rock by Robert
Southey.
SCIENCE: We will be exploring simple electrical circuits.
TOPIC: We will consolidate our learning on The Roman Empire.
TRIP: Our end of year trip will be to Kew Gardens on Tuesday, 12th July. There will be no trip
letters for parents. You should have received information on how to access the letter online and
give your consent. Please sign up online if you are able to accompany us.
Maths: Mr Mattocks – We will be solving word problems involving money.
Miss Whight – We will be using information presented in a line graph to solve problems.
Mr Sharman - We will be exploring how data can be presented in bar charts, line graphs and
pictograms.
English: We will be planning and drafting our own play scripts.
Science: We will be starting our ‘science week’ project.
PE: Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the children require both their swimming and PE kits. On
Tuesday, the children just need their PE kits.
Homework: Will be given on Monday, to be handed in on Friday.
Trip: We are going to LEGOLAND on Thursday 7th July. If you would like your child to come,
please make sure that slips are returned. If there are any parents that would like to help out,
please let us know!
English - Year 6 will be finishing their work on Macbeth, including a leaflet advertising the
Elizabethan Globe Theatre.
Maths - Year 6 will continue with calculator challenges and investigations.
Art - Year 6 will be focusing on Picasso's style of painting. They will be producing a painting of
their partner.
