FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2015 Guts Frisbee World Championships Sterling Heights, MI – This Labor Day weekend sixteen of the best Guts teams from around the country will flock to Sterling Heights to compete in the Guts Frisbee World Championships. Guts is an extreme Frisbee sport that was invented in the Upper Peninsula in 1958 and is now played as far away as Japan and Taiwan. Known as “the original extreme sport”, Guts is a game featuring high speed throws upwards of 85 mph and insane one-handed catches of those throws. This year’s tournament will feature the recently crowned 2015 national champions the Appleton Assassins (Appleton, WI), the two-time world champ Bataan Park Bros. (Albuquerque, NM), and the reigning world champions the Boomtown Saints (Lansing, MI). The winner of this year’s event will represent the USA at the World Ultimate & Guts Championships in London next June. Event Details When: Labor Day weekend Saturday, Sept. 5th & Sunday, Sept. 6th from dusk until dawn. The best matches will take place on Sunday afternoon and the world champions will be determined late in the day on Sunday. Where: Sunnybrook Golf & Bowl @ 7191 17 Mile Rd. in Sterling Heights. What: A Michigan-born sport that is unlike anything that you’ve ever seen. Spectators get to witness up-close the lightning fast throws, crazy one-handed catches, and the good natured trash talk.
