This Week’s Super News March 3, 2017 Contact me at Office: 812-591-3115 [email protected] Soaring into 2nd grade Reading: In reading this week we reviewed the skill sequencing with the stories Ceaser Chavez and Brave Bessie. We also reviewed synonyms which we are great at! Grammar: In grammar we talked about possessive pronouns. Writing: We went back to cursive this week for writing. We learned the uppercase letters, K, H, U, V, W, and Y. The students also spent time practicing their names in cursive. Math: We continued with measurement this week. We talked about estimation and continued practicing measuring items in both inches and centimeters. We also spent a couple days drawing lines of a certain length. Next week we will begin talking about basic conversions which can get a little tricky. Have a wonderful weekend! High Frequency Words If your child is having trouble reading the basic words which make up most of our stories, please take time each week to practice the following words each night for 5 minutes. It will make a huge difference in their reading fluency. I will include the weekly high frequency words in the newsletter for you. No high frequency words Next week we will be taking the time to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday! We have several fun activities planned which do NOT include testing (whoop, whoop)!!
