Healthy Headwaters Definition of the Healthy Headwaters work: We work at the local level to advance and bring to scale watershed protection programs in individual communities. We work at the state, regional, and national level by supporting the use of smart science and innovative approaches in the crafting of public policy. The best place to get a sense of how this work is evolving and “sticking” is our website. You’ll want to read the newly revised Policy Platform and criteria, the assessment of the Mountain Accord federal legislation, the new communications primer and some of the most recent Confluence e-newsletters. B. Water is Life: Health, Western Water, and Climate Change The webinar last fall kicked off the program. First in a three part series, this one was moderated by Dr. Tracy Delaney with the Southern California Health Alliance, and featured Dr. Linda Rudolph, with the Public Health Institute and a nationally known expert on health and climate change, and our very own Laura Briefer. This webinar had the highest registration of any we’ve held; the launch was a terrific success. The next webinar, which focuses on the Central Valley, is scheduled for April. C. Equity & Inclusion Internal: Jonathan Poullard and his colleague Walker completed the 15 assessment interviews and look forward to seeing everyone March 9. External: We continue to prioritize “allyship” with water justice leaders and organizations to advance the work, and most importantly, to identify where to find common ground. In addition to our deepening internal conversations around equity and justice we’re also using our significant communications and networking assets to bring water justice issues to the primarily Executive Director Report, March 10, 2017 | 3 white western water management world.
