VARYING DEADLINES
ALERT SCHOLARSHIP: This is a $500 essay scholarship for seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants are asked
to write an essay about a personal encounter they or someone they know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse.

WESTERN UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE (WUE): Through the WUE program, students in Western states may
enroll in participating two-year or four-year public college programs at a reduced tuition level up to 150 percent of
the institution’s regular resident tuition. In all cases, WUE tuition is considerably less than nonresident tuition. For

UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND SCHOLARSHIPS: This site allows students to search through hundreds of
scholarship and grant programs administered by the United Negro College Fund. To be considered, applicants must
have a minimum GPA of 2.5, complete the FAFSA, have verifiable unmet need, and enroll in one of 39 member

HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND: This site is the home of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the nation’s largest
provider of college financial aid for Latino students. Students have the ability to apply to multiple scholarships
using this website. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, complete the FAFSA (DACA
applicants must submit household income information) and be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents with a
valid permanent resident card or a passport stamped I-551 (not expired) or be granted Deferred Action for

BOSTON UNIVERSITY TRUSTEE SCHOLARS PROGRAM: By nomination only, this award recognizes students who
have outstanding academic ability, and the potential to inspire fellow students to excel. Recipients are awarded a
renewable scholarship covering full tuition and mandatory fees and are invited to participate in specially organized

PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS: PLU awards several academic and leadership

UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC POWELL SCHOLARS: The Powell Scholars must have a GPA of 3.7 or higher, either a
combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of at least 1350 or ACT composite score of at least 30 and
demonstrated superior leadership skills in two or more areas, including but not restricted to student government,
community service, cultural groups, research or creative activities. The scholarship is $36000/yr., $5000 for a

MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Presidential Scholarships are Montana State
University’s most prestigious scholarship awards, recognizing academic distinction as well as unique personal
qualities. Up to twenty scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen. Recipients receive full tuition waivers
and generous stipends. Scholars who maintain the required academic standards will have their awards renewed

BURGER KING SCHOLAR PROGRAM: BURGER KING® Scholars awards assist students who work part-time and excel

BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY WESTERN UNDERGRADUATE EXCHANGE (WUE) AND GEM SCHOLARSHIPS: Students
from Washington are automatically considered for the WUE or Gem scholarships at Boise State if: They have a
minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and are interested in any of the 190 Boise State Majors open to WUE participants or
GEM degree programs. To be considered for the WUE or GEM scholarship students must complete their

NFIB YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR AWARD: Applicant must be a senior that demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and
initiative through examples such as: starting his/her own business, participating in organizations such as DECA,
Junior Achievement, FBLA, FFA, NFTE, etc. Students are encouraged to mention any endeavors or work
experiences offered as community service. An officially established business is not a requirement. Four hundred

SEATTLE HIROSHIMA CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: The Seattle Hiroshima Club Scholarship Trust Fund has provided $3,000
to fund three scholarships of $1000 each to three high school seniors who plan to seek higher education. Eligible
students must: have a parent(s), grandparent(s), or great-grandparent(s) or relative from the Hiroshima
Prefecture; parent or guardian must be a current paid member of the Seattle Hiroshima Club as of October 31,

2015; have a GPA of 3.8 or higher; and be present at the Club’s annual general meeting to receive the award.

ITHACA COLLEGE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. SCHOLAR PROGRAM This award
is for seniors of ethnic or racial backgrounds that have been historically unrepresented in college. Scholarship
recipients will receive up to full tuition for four years with a minimum merit based scholarship of $25,000. Please

ITHACA COLLEGE - PARKS SCHOLAR AWARDS: The Roy H. Parks School of Communications at Ithaca College
sponsors this scholarship. This scholarship recognizes students’ excellence in academics, service and their passion
for communications. Awards are renewable for up to 4 years total and cover the full cost of attendance (tuition,
room and board) and includes stipends for living expenses, and books. Students must have all of their applications

EUGENE MC DERMOTT SCHOLARS PROGRAM – UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS at DALLAS: The Eugene McDermott
Scholars program recognizes 16 -20 students nationally who are in the top 5 % of their class based on their
academics and extracurricular activities.
Qualifying students test scores should be in the 1450+ range for old SAT, 1490+ new SAT and 33 for the ACT. This
award covers 48 months of tuition, fees, books, a living stipend travel and cultural experiences. Additional funds

JOHN F. KENNEDY PROFILES IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST: The Profiles in
Courage Essay contest is open to all students in grades 9-12. Students must write an original and creative essay
that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described in the book Profiles in Courage. Guidelines

DECA SCHOLARSHIPS: Various DECA scholarships and amounts. Some applications require that you work for the
company offering the scholarship. They include Safeway, Kmart, Claire’s, Sears, Finish Line, TJ Maxx/Marshalls, and
Target. All other scholarships are open to every DECA member, provided they meet the criteria. For specific

PRIDE FOUNDATION AND GREATER SEATTLE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS: Applications are available
on October 10th for the Pride Foundation and Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) 2016-17 scholarships.
There are over fifty different types of scholarships but only one application to complete. The program focuses on
building leadership and promoting diversity in the Pacific Northwest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer
(LGBTGQ), and straight ally community. LGBTQ and straight –ally students (straight and supportive of LGBT issues)
students, children of LGBT families, students of color are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications are

WASHINGTON CONSORTIUM FOR THE LIBERAL ARTS (WaCLA) ESSAY: $3,000 scholarship to a Washington
Consortium for the Liberal Arts (WaCLA) school, the Second Prize winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship to a
WaCLA institution, and the Third Prize winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to a WaCLA school. Winners must
be admitted to and matriculate in a WaCLA institution to receive their scholarship. Participating institutions can be

CONGRESS –BUNDESTAG YOUTH EXCHANGESCHOLARSHIP: This is an
opportunity for a motivated high school student to study aboard in Germany for 10 months through a US State
Department funded program. Students will live with a host family and go to school at a German high school as
well as participate in cultural activities. Previous German language experience is not required. All levels of

DELL SCHOLARS PROGRAM: This is a need-based scholarship for seniors with a GPA of 2.4 or above who are
participating for at least two years in an approved college readiness program (AVID, GearUp.), and plan to enter a
bachelor’s degree program at an accredited institution in 2017. Dell Scholars receive $20,000 to complete their

WASHINGTON CROSSING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: This award is
for high school seniors planning careers in service to the U.S.A. in local, state, or federal government. Students
are required to write a one-page essay stating why he/she plans a career in government service and any
inspiration derived from the leadership of George Washington and his crossing of the Delaware. Scholarship will
be awarded on the regional and national level and vary in amount from $500 to $5000. National winners will
receive an all-expense paid trip to the Scholarship Award ceremony in Pennsylvania on April 29, 2017. Full

WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: Senior women are eligible to apply. Selection is based on character,
scholarship, achievements, and achievements related to school and community. Five scholarships of $2,000 each

INTERTRIBAL TIMBER COUNCIL TRUMAN D. PICARDSCHOLARSHIP: For Native American/Alaskan students
pursuing a higher education in natural resources. The award amount is $1,500 for graduating high school seniors.

NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP: This award is for students that have multiple sclerosis

SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIPS: Various scholarships for students interested in obtaining a degree in
engineering or related sciences (math, chemistry, biology, physics, technologies, and computer science).
Applicants must be seniors, US citizens, and meet the minimum GPA and SAT/ACT score as outlined in the
requirements for each scholarship. The scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $10,000. For applications and

THE IGNATIAN LEADERS SCHOLARSHIPS—GONZAGA UNIVERSITY: This scholarship serves students who have
demonstrated academic achievements and leadership ability within their community. Must have admissions
application for Gonzaga University on file by February 1, 2017, but does not have to have received acceptance yet.
Scholarship application includes essay and 2 letters of recommendation. 40 applicants will be invited to Gonzaga
for a competition weekend March 18-19, 2017. 20 will be selected for the award of $24,000. Limited travel grants

MASONIC OUTSTANDING STUDENTS OF THE JUNIOR CLASS: Five boys and five girls will be honored as
outstanding students of the junior class. Judging will be based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular
involvement, community service, citizenship, and evaluation of written responses as well as a letter of
recommendation. The top girl and boy each receive a $500 scholarship.

THE DO-IT SCHOLARS PROGRAM: The DO-IT Scholars program prepares young people with disabilities for college,
careers, independent living, and leadership roles in society. The DO-IT program consists of three phases and
includes a week live-in summer program at the UW Seattle campus. High school sophomores and juniors with
disabilities are encouraged to apply. Applicants must complete the application, provide one recommendation
letter, an official transcript, and have parent’s authorization to be considered. Applications and information are

APCA SCHOLARSHIP: The Asian Pacific Islanders for Professional and Community Advancement (APCA) will award
28 national $2000 scholarships to eligible students who complete their application. Applicants who are not
awarded a national scholarship will be considered for a $1000 state level scholarship. Eligible students should be to
full-time graduating high school seniors in good academic standing (minimum GPA 3.40 on 4-point scale), of any
ethnic or cultural background, who plans to attend an accredited college (2-year and 4-year) or vocational school.

THE PRINCETON PRIZE IN RACE RELATIONS: The Seattle local committee of the
Princeton Prize invites students in grades 9-12 to apply for a $1000 award. Any student that been actively
involved in a volunteer activity in the past 12 months that has had a significant impact on race relations in their

FEBRUARY DEADLINES
AMERICAN INDIAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP: Applicant must be a financially needy student with close cultural
ties to an American Indian tribe who will be enrolled full-time at a public or independent university in Washington.
About fifteen students receive awards ranging from $500 to $2,000 per student. Applications can be completed
online, however, a hard copy must still be printed, signed and mailed to the WSAC. The application can be found

DAUNA LEIGH BAUER SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for students applying to Gonzaga University. The Dauna
Leigh Bauer Scholarship was established in Dauna Leigh Bauer memory and awards students who share Dauna’s
sense of responsibility and appreciation for education. Students must complete all application and financial aid

EPSILON SIGMA ALPHA SCHOLARSHIPS: The Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation is an international leadership

BBB STUDENTS OF INTEGRITY SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for juniors and seniors. The Better Business
Bureau Foundation sponsors a $10,000 scholarship to the winning application. Students submit a 90 second video

ASSOCIATION OF COMPUTER PROFESSIONALS IN EDUCATION (ACPE) SCHOLARSHIPS: This scholarship opens
December 10th. ACPE annually awards scholarships to outstanding students in Washington and Oregon who have
demonstrated a high involvement with technology during their high school careers. This year $10,000 has been
allocated for scholarships up to $2,500 each to be awarded to graduating high school seniors who are planning to

JACKIE ROBINSON FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: Senior students are eligible to be considered for this scholarship
if they are a graduating minority student who plans to attend an accredited four-year institution within the United
States. Qualified applications must show leadership, dedication to community service and financial need.
Additional requirements include US citizenship, a minimum combined score of 1000 on the math and critical
reading potion of the SAT or a score of 21 on the ACT. Scholarships are up to $7500. For further information and an

CANCER UNWRAPPED ESSAY CONTEST: This essay contest IS for students in grades 9-12 who have survived cancer
or who have had a friend or family member affected by cancer. Essays must be between 500 and 2,000 words long.

with great ideas and a desire to make a difference are eligible to apply. The topic this year is “Pursuing
Sustainability Nonstop”. Students form a team and create a project that explores ways for the world to enable
some aspect of this transition to alternate energy sources. Participants can choose between four challenges:
Technology, Design, Behavior or Multidisciplinary Collaboration. Teams with winning presentations can win
