Make your own Gingerbread Salt Dough e e e e e For making For decorating nn 150g plain white flour nn nn 75g salt nn nn 4 tablespoons of water nn 5 tablespoons of cinnamon Glitter glue Any other bits and bobs in Christmassy colours to decorate your ornaments Make your own Gingerbread Salt Dough Checklist – things you’ll need nnMixing bowl nnWooden spoon nnSieve nnTablespoon nnKitchen scales nnRolling pin nnCutters or butter knife nnA straw nnGreaseproof paper nnOven gloves Directions: Mix it nn nn Sift the flour into a mixing bowl, add all the other ingredients and mix them with a wooden spoon. Knead the dough a few times on a lightly floured surface to be sure it’s well mixed and has a smooth consistency. Knead in more flour if dough feels too sticky. Cut it nn nn Lightly coat with flour and roll dough out to about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Line two baking trays with greaseproof paper. Using cutters, cut out the gingerbread shapes (using the straw to make a hole at the top) and place them on a baking tray, leaving a gap between them. Bake it nn Preheat oven to 130°C. nn Bake for 2–3 hours or until completely dry. Take out and leave to cool.
