SOLIDARITY SUNDAY
Liturgy for Solidarity Sunday
prepared by scott simpson , regional representative -

The following is a suggestion for an order of service. We have provided a selection of possible songs, both contemporary
and traditional, for each section. We have, however, not made provision for announcements as many churches have
their own tradition with regard to their timing.
ORDER OF SERVICE
CALL TO WORSHIP: Psalm 33:1-5 and Micah 6:8
Leader:
Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the Lord with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.
All:
For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.
Leader:
With what shall we come before the Holy One,
and bow ourselves before God on high?
All:
God has shown us what is good.
What does the Holy One require of us,
but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God?

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:Leader or in unison
Eternal God, our judge and redeemer, we confess that we have tried to hide from you, for we have done wrong.
We have lived for ourselves and apart from you.
We have turned from our neighbours and refused to bear the burdens of others.
We have ignored the pain of the world and passed by the hungry, the poor, and the oppressed.
In your great mercy, forgive our sins and free us from selfishness, that we may choose your will and obey your command to love
our neighbour; through Jesus Christ our Savior.

LORD’S PRAYER: In unison
Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
