If you or your students click the button, they will be taken to the EchoCenter where they can view recordings for the class. What's Recorded? Echo360 can record what's being shown on computer's screen, your voice, and a document camera previewed on the computer screen. • • • Computer Screen. The computer screen will always be recorded. Prior to recording, open up any websites, PowerPoint presentations, or other resources so they are ready to go. Microphone. Your voice will be recorded either from a microphone on the top of the podium (black MXL "spaceship" microphone), or from a webcam. Make sure that the front of the microphone is facing you. The spaceship microphone pick up audio within a 25 foot radius. Document Camera. Turn on the document camera, open the preview software, prepare your materials underneath it, and minimize the preview until ready to use. Document camera footage is recorded on the computer screen in a preview window. When projecting the document camera to your class, use the computer or laptop source on the touchpanel. Do not switch to the document camera source. Last Updated: 12/15/2015 4 Document Camera Previews If you use a document camera with Echo360, controls for the camera will be displayed on the computer screen. We recommend maximizing the preview so that your students will see the largest picture possible. For each document camera, the camera and software functionality may differ slightly from the pictures that follow. An Echo360 administrator will work with you to set up a schedule based on your class needs. There is minimal preparation for the recording. Simply make sure that the sources are showing the right things and the computer is turned on. Opening the Classroom Capture software will reveal the sources to be captured, but please note that a preview of the computer display or audio meter will not be available 10 minutes before recording begins. Start a Scheduled Recording Early If you're within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time, the software will indicate that you can record early with a Start Now button. Click the button and a 5 second countdown will appear prior to recording then recording will commence. Extend a Scheduled Recording You can add time in 10 minute increments to your recording. If there is a recording scheduled after your class, you can only add time leading up to that schedule start time. You can't cut into their scheduled recording. Once uploaded, the recording is put into a queue for processing. Time for processing depends on a number of factors including length of time of your recording as well as the number of recordings ahead of yours in the queue. You will receive an email once it has finished processing. Generally speaking, your recording should be posted within a few hours.
