Purpose: to determine a true 2nd place finisher as
quickly as possible
You must complete a single elimination
tournament
Complete an extra single elimination tournament
for the finalist and all the teams that were
defeated by the winner
Advantages
It selects a true second place winner
It can accommodate a large number of entries in
a relatively short period of time.
Disadvantages
The major weakness is the delay waiting for the
first elimination tournament to finish so you can
determine the finalist
Second place may be more accurately
