Falcon Children’s Home has been providing a home
for children who, for whatever reason, are unable to live
with their parents in a regular home setting for over one
hundred years. Established in 1909, it has been estimated
that approximately ten thousand lives have been either
directly or indirectly touched by the various programs and
ministries offered by Falcon Children’s Home.
Throughout its decades of serving students, the Home
has had to adjust and adapt its programs to ensure we
are effectively meeting the ever changing needs of the
populations we serve. That has never been more evident
than in the past five years. Throughout the years, we have
improved and enhanced our Transitional Living Program,
launched a Teen Mothers and Babies Program and
successfully merged with a residential maternity home
and adoption agency. In 2011 we started our own private
school on campus that is focused directly on working with
students who are in the foster care system. In 2012 we
received our license to begin licensing foster homes under
the umbrella of Falcon Children’s Homes and it is our goal
to continue to look for and develop new initiatives that
will allow us to reach and serve even more children in
need. It is our wish that every child could be raised in a
family home setting, but for those who are not able to
and are placed with us, we make every effort to provide
an environment that will nurture and develop that child to
be as successful as possible in life. Falcon Children’s Home
is making a difference.

FALCON AT A GLANCE
MISSION STATEMENT
Since its inception the Home has remained committed to the desires of its founders. That vision was, and
is, to provide a Christian home for children, who for whatever reason, are not permitted to live with their
parents in a normal family setting or whose parents are deceased. We are committed to serving the
needs of children without regard to creed, color, race or religion; to providing services and opportunities
that will enhance the total well-being of every child- mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually;
and to the Christian values upon which the Home was established and which we believe and teach
unashamedly. It is our desire and prayer that those who seek employment at Falcon Children's Home will
subscribe to the same position on morality and conduct.

RESIDENTIAL AND
EMERGENCY CARE
Falcon Children’s Home is a child care facility. We have no other purpose or business. The care of children is
out foremost concern and the centerpiece of all that we do. We seek to provide services and opportunities
that will enhance the well being of every child- mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
CARE.
Each student is placed on a Cottage/Hall that can house up to 12 students. Each cottage has trained
houseparents that care for the students on that cottage/hall.
SOCIAL SERVICES.
Each student is assigned a case manager upon arriving at the home. This social worker meets with the
student on a weekly basis and schedules and transports them to any necessary appointments.
COUNSELING SERVICES.
On campus Licensed Professional Counselors provide students with immediate access to counseling
services. The counselor is also available to the on-call crisis intervention team.
HEALTH SERVICES.
A registered nurse is employed on a part-time basis and a MD makes weekly visits to the campus to
see students.
CHAPLAIN.
The Chaplain is available to the students for spiritual guidance and meets with students on a regular basis.
The Chaplain is also responsible for implementing a well-rounded devotional program that is used nightly
in the cottages.
RECREATION.
The Recreational Director oversees a well-rounded physical education program. This involved nightly
activities such as basketball and volleyball as well as our summer program.
1
PREPARATION FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING.
All students living on campus receive Life Skills training from houseparents as a regular part of their cottage
routine. These Life Skills include, but are not limited to, money management, personal appearance,
health, educational planning, job seeking skills, and housekeeping.
EDUCATION.
Falcon Christian Academy is located on campus. Students are given the opportunity to attend the
academy or public school.
ON CAMPUS TUTORING.
An on-campus tutoring program offers assistance to all students that attend elementary, middle and
high school.
PHOENIX/INTERIM PROGRAM
The Phoenix Program is designed to help our students put away their old self and rise anew from the ashes.
It is the goal of the program to help students deal with issues that are preventing them from succeeding
in normal campus life. Because we are a ministry that is here for the students, we want to provide them
with every chance to stay here at Falcon Children’s Home. This will be our final step in which we hope to
reform behaviors that would otherwise result in discharge. The Interim Program is for students who have
just arrived. This program helps determine which cottage is suited to meet the needs of that particular
student.
2
FALCON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
Falcon Christian Academy is located on the campus of Falcon Children’s Home and was formed to
help our middle and high school students “catch up” through an academically intensive program. Our
school’s mission is focused on academic achievement, Biblical worldview and character development.
We understand that many of our students have not been successful in single and sometimes multiple
school settings. It is our hope that we can work together (students, faculty, houseparents and social
services) to redeem past mistakes and facilitate a positive attitude toward school and learning. We
incorporate best practices recognized by leaders in education as the most effective methods for helping
children learn:
•
•
•
•
Pre-testing and post-testing each school year to identify each child’s strengths and needs and measure
academic gains.
Individualize and create instruction geared to the child’s needs.
Low student-teacher ratio.
After school tutoring program with skill-specific remediation programs for our students.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT.
It is the purpose of Falcon Christian Academy to guide each student to full intellectual development
regardless of his or her current academic or social status. This will be achieved by an environment that
conveys the message that all students can learn, marked by increasingly higher levels of achievement
with students performing at our above academic grade level.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
It is the purpose of Falcon Christian Academy to promote positive character development, having clearcut expectations of each student to demonstrate appropriate responsible and productive behavior.
Students will be taught life skills that will enable them to be confident and successful in whatever career
or calling they choose.
BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW.
It is the goal of the academy to teach each student to develop a Biblical World View that is evidenced
by an awareness of the unconditional love of God, a sense of purpose and self-worth and hope for the
future.
ATHLETICS.
Student Athletes are challenged to excel in the pursuit of Christ-like character; he or she is also to move
toward emotional maturity and skill proficiency. Current sports include Volleyball, Basketball and Baseball.
3
Mission statement- falcon Christian academy exists to provide a holistic education that
promotes achievement in academics, a biblical worldview and character development

AA NEW
LIFE
CHRISTIAN
ADOPTIONS
DIVISION OF FALCON CHILDREN’S HOME
A New Life Christian Adoptions was created as a support ministry for women who lovingly choose life for
their baby, but are unsure if they are at a place in their life where parenting would be in the best interest of
their child. We believe children thrive best in loving, two parent homes, with Christ and the Church involved
in their daily lives. A New Life Christian Adoptions provides educational and supportive counseling to all
involved in the adoption process. Every adoption situation is as unique as the birthparents and adoptive
families involved. We strive to develop an adoption plan that takes into consideration the desires and
wellbeing of everyone involved.
WHO WE SERVE
BIRTH PARENTS.
We are available to help birth parents throughout the pregnancy, at delivery and beyond. At A New Life
we provide many services which include: free and confidential counseling, meetings at the location of
your choice, choice of the adoptive family, choice of the type of adoption, support, medical and living
assistance and a 24 hour birthparent hotline.
ADOPTIVE FAMILIES.
At A New Life we are equipped to assist families in adopting domestically, independently as well as
relative, embryo and through the Department of Social Services of North Carolina. We are also an agency
that is committed to finding homes for older children, up to eighteen years of age. We actively recruit
families for our minority newborns and special need infants. We have a special need for African American
or biracial Christian couples to join our program.
11
The mission of our adoption program is to encourage, educate and assist birth mothers experiencing
unplanned pregnancies in matching their desire for life for their unborn babies to “forever families.” A New
Life Christian Adoptions seeks to provide a means by which children can be placed in homes of loving,
Christian families though the process of adoption.
