Teacher will model (review) how to convert ounces into pounds: o To find how many ounces are in 3 pounds, first I need to remember that a pound is 16 ounces. I can multiply by three since I have three pounds. Or, I can add 16 three times. Composing: Students will convert ounces to pounds and compare objects by explaining which object weighs more. Students will complete the worksheet Reflecting: Students will share their answers with classmates and explain their thinking on why they made their choice. What elements of this lesson are concrete? What elements of this lesson are representational? What elements of this lesson are abstract? Converting ounces into pounds and being able to compare ounces to pounds. Additional Notes: This activity should come after students are familiar with how many ounces are in a pound and know how to convert ounces to pounds.
