Position overview: ​Automotive Service Writer with hands on responsibilities for all activities related to the General
Service of Automobiles and light trucks with a focus on providing a noteworthy service experience to our customers
as well as maintaining all aspects of running and maintaining a service facility.
Job Description: ​ ​The Service Writer position requires you to have an upbeat-outgoing personality, problem
solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. Depending on customer traffic in the office
this person is usually the first or second person our customers come in contact with and would require them to act
and speak in a professional manner.
Desired Qualifications:
● Proven effectiveness in managing technicians and/or service personnel a plus but not required.
● Great customer service and telephone skills.
● Be pleasant, punctual and not afraid to smile.
● Ability to complete tasks quickly with attention to detail (​it is so important to proofread and check your
work product. We work hard to minimize errors within our organization.)
● Be able to work from 7:00AM to 5:45 PM Monday – Friday with occasional after hours work and
or/weekends for training or community related networking events.
● Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
● Comfortable working with PC based computers and laptops.
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
● Working knowledge of Social Media, email and the Internet.
● Strong verbal, written, communication skills as well as effective listening skills.
● Reliable personal transportation.
● Live within community or within 30 minutes drive time.
● Proven organizational skills.
● High school diploma, some college credits ideal but not absolutely required.
● Self-directed, motivated, professional and conscientious
● Be able to use the ROWriter automotive management system platform proficiently a plus but not required.

and/or weekends for training or community related networking events.

● Book reading to advance the operational effectiveness of the organization as per management
● Have reliable dependable personal transportation.

Valid Driver’s License with no more than 2 moving violations and/or at-fault accidents on driving record in
the past 3 years.
No drug or alcohol related conviction on driving record in the past 5 years.
Be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company
for this position now or in the future
ASE Certification for Service Writers (must obtain within 90 days of employment if you don’t have)
Professional appearance and work ethic.
Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
Read technical publications and stay abreast to the changes in automotive repairs and techniques as well as
to stay current ​on industry trends and technology as it relates to our service offerings.
Actively participate in personal and professional growth, through online webinars, books, and/or seminars.

Job Responsibilities:​ include but are not limited to:
● Manage and schedule workload to maximize available resources
● Participate and in some cases or coordinate with marketing staff for marketing activities to promote the
business in the local community. This may include after hours and/or weekend functions.
● Greeting customers, creating work orders, processing customer payments
● Manage inventory necessary for the timely service of vehicles.
● Communicate with techs regarding customer’s vehicle needs.
● Build/assemble repair plans based and customer needs and technician recommendations.
● Cost justify recommended services while asking for the customers business based upon the repair plans.
● Phone and email communication with customers
● Monitor and respond to emailed service requests from our website and social media
● Answer phones and/or making sure there is prompt answering by staff.
● Filing, imaging and organizing paperwork.
● Growing fleet work as well as performing and/or ensuring customer follow-up is being performed.
● Perform follow up on any customer complaint and or negative feedback.
● Data entry in RO writer management systems and company required spreadsheets utilized in performance
monitoring.
● Book reading to advance the operational effectiveness of the organization as per management
● Review industry publications to stay current on industry trends and technology as it relates to our service
offerings.

Salary range​:
● Bi-weekly draws against and overall commission which is based on parts sales and profit targets being met.
Draw is typically $30-35K yearly range, with overall compensation in the $35K-$65K range or higher.
● Bi-weekly bonus opportunity based upon technician overall efficiency.
● Bonus opportunity based upon subjective measurement of overall contribution to the company success​.
General Information:
● While we don’t believe in annual performance reviews, we do believe in regular check-ins which is nothing
more than conversations about performance and other issues.

● Salary pay periods are bi-weekly with 26 pay periods throughout the year
