Good Day Social Circle Middle School Scholar,
The administrative team, faculty and support personnel are happy to welcome you to Social
Circle Middle School (SCMS). Our school houses the smartest students that are taught by the
most capable teachers and stand by the belief of “Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day.” We
will encourage and expect all students to have a productive 2014-2015 school year. We hope
to assist you in making this upcoming year enjoyable both in extra-curricular and cocurricular activities. Your education is priority and this student handbook is to familiarize all
students with the rules and policies that govern SCMS.
In a few short weeks, YOU will be walking through the front doors of the school for the new
school year. High expectations and accountability will be top priorities for all of us at SCMS.
We must settle for nothing less than the BEST in OUR school! Success with anything, success
in anything has one fundamental aspect – EFFORT. To achieve exponential results requires
additional EFFORT. YOU will be hearing much about our theme for the 2014-15 school year,
“212~the extra degree.” Our theme evolves from the fact that at 211 degrees, water is hot,
very hot. At 212 degrees, water boils. With boiling water, comes steam and with steam, you
can power a train. One extra degree can make a world of difference. We MUST commit to
operating our lives at 212 degrees in everything we do…it is time to turn up the heat!
Enclosed are the registration dates, supply lists, spirit pack prices and other important
registration information. Please join us for the Redskins Meet and Greet (Open House) on
Tuesday, July 28, 2014, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. At this event, you will be able to pick up
your schedule for the 2014-2015, enjoy a school tour, sign up for various clubs and
organizations, meet the teachers and visit the school store and purchase apparel.
Thank you for selecting SCMS I know that you will benefit greatly from the efforts of the staff
here at SCMS. Continue to enjoy your summer and plan to return to the best year in middle
school you’ve ever had! I look forward to seeing you at school.
