FEED YOUR SOUL MAKE A SOUPER BOWL! event FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 2013, 1-8 PM Collins Building, Rm 203 Massachusetts College of Art and Design 621 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA To RSVP please visit tinyurl.com/MakeABowl I have never made anything with clay before! Can I participate? Yes! People knowledgeable in ceramics will be on hand to help and teach you about the process! Do I have to register? What if I just want to drop by? RSVPs are greatly appreciated so that we can best plan for the event. To RSVP online, please visit tinyurl.com/MakeABowl This said, no one will be turned away from the events! Does it cost anything to participate? This event is FREE and open to all! What happens after we make the bowls? How are they glazed/painted? There will be two opportunities to glaze bowls: Thurs., January 24, 4-‐7pm + Sat., January 26, 11-‐2pm. What is the difference between the bowl making event and the glazing sessions? What happens at each? At the bowl making event, participants can throw a bowl(s) on a wheel or hand-‐build a bowl(s). After that, the bowls will stay in the studio to dry and be fired in the kiln at MassArt. In the glazing sessions a week later, participants will have the opportunity to glaze (i.e. paint) the bowls. Since the bowls will be made collaboratively, it’s possible that a bowl you build can and will be glazed by someone else. Do I have to attend all of the sessions or stay for an entire block of time? No! Please feel free to come whenever you can, and stay as long as you’d like. All of the bowls will be made collaboratively, so you can jump into the process at any point. Will I get to keep the bowl or bowls that I make? All of the bowls created will be donated to Clay for Change, a MassArt student group. What is Clay for Change? Clay for Change is an SGA (Student Government Association) Group at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. “Empty Bowls” is one of its primary initiatives. With “Empty Bowls,” bowls are made to raise money for those who are in need of food. Through this work, MassArt collaborates with community partners to create strong and enduring community connections. So…what will Clay for Change do with the bowls? Clay for Change will donate the bowls to become part of a community event, called The Souper Bowl, at the Haley House Bakery Café in Dudley Square, Roxbury, MA. What is The Souper Bowl? The Souper Bowl is a fundraiser for the Haley House Soup Kitchen in the South End, and will take place on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 4-‐7pm at Haley House Bakery Café, 12 Dade Street, Dudley Square, Roxbury, MA. Tickets to The Souper Bowl are sold for $30 each. During the event, attendees enjoy great company and sample a diverse array of soups made by local chefs with locally sourced ingredients. At the end of the event, attendees are invited to take their Clay for Change bowl home with them! This sounds awesome! Where can I find more info on The Souper Bowl, and how can I participate in that?! Please visit www.haleyhouse.org for complete information on how you can attend The Souper Bowl. Ok, back to the bowl making event and glazing sessions—I want to participate! How do I get there? There will be signs from that entrance directing you to the event in Collins Rm 203. What should I wear? Wear clothing that is comfortable and that you don’t mind getting dirty. Should I bring anything? Your enthusiasm, excitement, and desire to participate are the most important things you can bring! What if I have other questions that aren’t answered here?
