Intent
To establish a process for the reconfiguration of the AME Church work in Districts 14-20
Rationale
The current Episcopal District configurations include areas that were established to circumvent the apartheid
regime of South Africa as well as to temporarily accommodate rapid growth in the Great Lakes region. This
configuration needs to be updated to reflect current socio and geopolitical realities, and more equitably reallocate
resources and personnel for effectual work in our Zion

The Global Development Council, for the 2016-2020 quadrennium, shall set as its top priority, a business item
6
concerning the reconfigurations of the geographic boundaries of Episcopal Districts 14-20 and their constituting
7
annual conferences. Annual progress reports shall be submitted to the General Board through its Commission on
8
Global Development. Final recommendations to the General Conference will be determined at the 2019 GDC
9
Biennial Session. This process shall take into account the current geopolitical situations of these areas with the
10
provision that the total number of episcopal districts shall not increase.
