US Postage PAID Permit #154 Gunnison, CO P.O. Box 1834 Gunnison, CO 81230 Your New Animal Shelter Q: A: A: This is not “Your Grandma’s dog Pound”! it is a highly specialized building. Why? it’s not a residence; it is a public building. A facility that houses 15 or more animals must meet State and other requirements that are in place for the well-being of both the animals and the humans who will care for them. The ventilation system alone rivals that of a hospital! Other requirements among many: • Specified minimum amount of space per animal • Separate dog and cat areas • Specialty surfaces on floors, walls, and ceilings to allow for disinfecting • One isolation area for dogs and one for cats, with separate ventilation systems • High-capacity sewer system, and many, many drains Grand Opening June 28th Hours –Timesopentothepublicwillbelimitedbut consistent, andalwaysbyappointment.
