FAQs: I-BEAM LED ® Where would I use the I-BEAM LED (IBL) high bay? The I-BEAM LED luminaire was designed to match the lumen output and footcandle levels produced by fluorescent high bays. Ideal for warehouses, manufacturing, gymnasiums, convention centers, aircraft hangers and other large indoor spaces with mounting heights up to 60 feet. With six lumen packages and two optical distributions to choose from, the I-BEAM LED fixture has a configuration to fit your application. What makes the I-BEAM LED a better value than other LED high bays? The base unit uses the same electronics and quality controls as a fully optioned model. The fixture ships with a premium reflector, high efficiency drivers and 0-10V dimming – all in a rigid and attractive solution with an average weight of 15 pounds (9L-24L) or 35 pounds (36L-48L).* Which I-BEAM LED fixture should I use when converting from fluorescent or HID? Lens kit adds approximately 7 pounds. IBL 48L What advantage does the I-BEAM LED fixture have over traditional lighting? Input wattage is significantly reduced compared to traditional sources. Provides payback in as little as two years and a high return on investment over the life cycle when compared to traditional sources. What is the predicted life and maintenance schedule? With 95% lumen maintenance (L95) at 60,000 hours and a predicted useful life beyond 100,000 hours, maintenance costs are minimal. Traditional sources require regular maintenance and lamp recycling. When you consider the costs associated with maintenance, the I-BEAM LED luminaire will save you hundreds of dollars over the useful life of the product. How does I-BEAM LED control glare? Yes, and it is a great way to maximize your return on investment. The I-BEAM LED fixture can be equipped with an occupancy sensor, photocell, nLight® and XPoint™ Wireless technology. These devices are factory-installed and require minimal labor to set up during fixture installation. A semi-diffuse acrylic diffuser is available to cover the emitters and reflectors. It can be factory- or field-installed. Can the I-BEAM LED high bay be nLight® or enabled for individual fixture control? Yes. nLight® is a revolutionary system that cost-effectively combines time-based and sensor-based lighting controls. The digital interface allows for quick and easy modifications to the time delays, photocell sensitivity and light levels at the individual fixture level. What options and accessories are available? I-BEAM LED is available with the vast majority of I-BEAM IBZ (fluorescent) offerings. Some items, such as shielding and wire guards are different in shape, but equivalent in performance. Other accessories such as hangers, cords and sensors are identical and interchangeable with I-BEAM IBZ. Does the I-BEAM LED high bay come in different colors? The standard fixture is two-toned with a white body and textured dark gray channel and end caps. An all-white version is optional. Can I dim the I-BEAM LED high bay? Yes. The drivers come standard with 0-10V dimming leads. They are capable of variable dimming down to 10%. What parts are field replaceable? LED boards, drivers, fusing, lensing and wire guards are all field replaceable. Is there an emergency battery pack option? Yes this option is available in fixtures up to 24,000 lumens only. We can factory-install an emergency battery pack in the center channel; cannot be installed in the field. This option provides 1000 lumens (nominal) for a minimum of 90 minutes. Will the I-BEAM LED fixture provide the same light output regardless of the ambient temperature in which it is installed? No. Much like fluorescent lighting, LED output varies with temperature. It offers higher light levels at colder temperatures. In hot environments, the relative light output decreases at about the same rate as fluorescent high bay sources. See spec sheet for details. As with most LED solutions, the upfront cost is higher than traditional sources. What is being done to ensure product reliability? Prior to production, each configuration is tested to UL standards, and further subjected to testing that identifies the electrical and thermal limits of the product. During assembly, components are selected and assembled according to IPC-A-610 standards and each fixture is thoroughly tested prior to shipment. What is the standard warranty? There is a 5-year limited warranty. Complete warranty terms are located at www.acuitybrands.com/CustomerResources/Terms_ and_conditions.aspx What is the standard color rendering index (CRI)? The standard LEDs are 70 CRI to meet DesignLights Consortium (DLC) requirements. 80 CRI is available as an option in all models; lumen output is decreased by 10%. DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) qualified product. Not all versions of this product may be DLC qualified. Please check the DLC Qualified Products List at www.designlights.org/QPL to confirm which versions are qualified.
