Some of us have implemented practices at home to minimize our footprints on the environment. It’s important that businesses are environmentally responsible as well. How businesses implement environmentally friendly practices depends on the nature of the business and the footprint that business leaves on the environment. At BOS we’re concerned about the amount of paper we produce. According to a study done by Duke University, the average person generates 4.3 pounds of trash per day. Think about how much unwanted mail you receive in one week’s time. You know, those countless catalogs, advertisements, and other mail that you did not request. Oh, and phone books…seriously, how many phone books does one household need? These things just show up in our mailboxes only to be tossed into the trash, eventually ending up in a landfill somewhere. That’s why we decided to get serious about going green. We’ve been working diligently to reduce the amount of paper we produce, distribute, and throw in the trash. @bankwithBOS 2 www.bankwithbos.com MEMBER FDIC This will be th e last time yo u receive a pap er copy of this newsletter. Beginning wit h the Summe r 2015 issue, will be delive we ring the news letter to the e address we h mail ave on file. We’ve come a long way. In 2014, we recycled over 41 tons of paper through Cintas. That’s 41 tons of paper that did not end up in a landfill. Our employees need very little file cabinet storage because anything that can be stored electronically, is stored electronically. Corporate credit card bills and receipts are stored electronically. Payroll is deposited directly into bank accounts and paystub information is delivered electronically. We also receive property tax bills from Sangamon County electronically and other counties are providing us with online access to property tax bills. Soon, our Spring Bancorp Board of Directors will conduct paperless board meetings. Our next step is to go green with our BOS Insights Newsletter. This will be the last time you receive a paper copy of this newsletter. Beginning with the Summer 2015 issue, we will deliver the newsletter to the email address we have on file. If you do not have your email address on file with us, but want to continue to receive this newsletter, give us a call to update your email address. If you do not have an email address you have other options. First you can go to bankwithbos.com and click on the “About” tab at the top, then select BOS Insights. Or, if you want to have a paper version of the newsletter, we will have a limited supply available in our lobbies and at the teller lines. These are some of the steps we’ve taken thus far to minimize our impact on the planet. We hope you’ll join us in our effort to reduce the paper waste we produce. One way you can help is to sign up for eStatements and eNotices. Give us a call today to learn more.
