Rock Cycle Project

Rock Cycle Project (25 Points)
Objective: Display your expertise of the rock cycle and the processes that make-up the rock cycle through a project.
Directions: You can display your in-depth knowledge of the rock cycle in many different ways.
Some examples of things that you could do:
 Song or rap lyrics
 Story about the life of a rock (going through the cycle)
 Large poster diagraming the rock cycle
 iMovie video
 Book Creator app on iPad
 Sonic Pics iPad storyboard on iPad
 You are not limited to these ideas, but are encouraged to ask Mr. Robertson if you plan on doing something other than
those listed so that he can approve of it and make sure you have the tools to do so.
Regardless of which option you decide upon, your final product should:
 Show mastery of what the rock cycle is and how rocks can be changed and remade into other types of rocks.
 Show mastery of at least 20 of the 34 vocabulary terms on the back on these directions.
o Mastery does not mean that you can write or read the definition, but that within the context of your rock cycle
project, it is readily apparent that you know what the term means and how to use it.
o Probably the best/easiest way to do this is to describe the events and processes that must take place for a rock to
start as one of the basic 3 rock types and change from that type to another, then to another, and then finally back
to the original rock that it was at the beginning. Please seek help from your teacher if these directions confuse
you in any way or if you don’t understand one of the vocabulary terms you wish you in your project.
 Contain accurate information
o For this to be educational it must include content that is accurate (use your note guide and book to assist you).
 Be unique
o Make it entertaining, put personality into it, and create with a peer audience in mind.
 Be organized and show proper planning and preparation
o Use class time effectively and come to class prepared.
