Schoolhouse Studios 81 Rupert Street Collingwood VIC 3066 Schoolhouse Studios is a creative community environment supporting and nurturing individuals and micro businesses to enable them to reach their full potential. SHS is passionate about promoting awareness and appreciation of the Arts to the wider community, by exposing new works, creative practice and collaboration. There are 5 main exhibition and performance spaces at schoolhouse Studios. Schoolhouse Studios is open Monday – Friday 10am – 3pm and Sat 11am – 4pm (when required by artist). TRADITIONAL GALLERIES 1. Long Division Gallery (Available only from July 2015) Long Division is a contemporary gallery aimed at established artists. 40m2, Gallery lighting, concrete floor. 2. Long Division II (Available for Exhibitions from January 2015) Long Division II is a smaller gallery within the larger space that is aimed at emerging artists and experimental works. 20m2, Gallery Lighting, concrete floor. 3. The Flag Pole The Flag Pole is a suspended exhibition space for banners. The rod is a Black Steel tube 40mm round x 6m wide and can easily be lowered for installation. 4. Pause Gallery (A Suspended Space) Pause is a suspended space for sculptural works and installations with a weight capacity of 400 kgs off the hook. 5. Studio Small Studio Small is a 50 m2 performance space with removable vinyl dance floor. The space is suitable for small audiences, workshops and installations. Schoolhouse Studios is currently accepting proposals for solo or group exhibitions by artists, collectives or curators. We also welcome proposals for one-‐off events or performative works that may not fit into the standard exhibition schedule. Schoolhouse Studios We provide exhibitors with public liability insurance, publicity, curatorial support, marketing and social networking support, and promotional listings. Schoolhouse Studios has a liquor licence and will run a bar at the opening night of your show. Artists are responsible for installing and de-‐installing their work, and insuring all works and personal equipment. The main gallery hours are 10am – 3pm Monday to Friday. If the Gallery is open on a Sat artists are required to arrange for someone to sit the show. Artists are responsible for patching up holes in the walls of the gallery and touching up with paint supplied by Schoolhouse Studios after their exhibition. COSTS Long Division Gallery 3 week exhibition $650 plus 20% commission on sales Long Division II 3 week exhibition $300 The Flag Pole 4 week show $300 Pause Gallery (A Suspended Space) 4 week show $600 Studio Small Varied HOW TO APPLY All applicants must provide: A completed Cover Sheet Formatted digitally as a Word .doc or PDF file, this cover sheet must include your: NAME: DATE: EMAIL: MOBILE/PHONE: ADDRESS: PROPOSAL TITLE: PREFERRED MONTH: LINK TO WEBSITE: A one page exhibition proposal: This should include your name, the title of the exhibition as well as a one paragraph description of how the exhibition will look (i.e. how many works, how it will be installed, any special technical requirements or equipment to be used, the scale and media included) and a one paragraph outline of the ideas and concepts behind your project (what’s it all about?) One Page CV: For curators and groups shows please provide a one page CV for each artist involved. Support material: Visual support material should include up to 10 images submitted in a digital format such as JPEG, PDF or Powerpoint slideshow. Images should be formatted at 72dpi and should not exceed 1mb each.
