Rule 1
When Single Infinitive, Single Gerund and Single Clause are used as
the Subject of a sentence, Singular Verb will be used.
ExampleTo swim is a good exercise.
(To swim – Infinitive)
Swimming is a good exercise.
(Swimming – Gerund)
Where he goes is not known to me.
(Where he goes – Clause)
Rule 2
When Double Infinitives, Double Gerunds and Double Clauses are
used as the Subject of a sentence, Plural Verb will be used.
ExampleTo run and to swim are good exercises.
Running and Swimming are good exercises.
What we say and what we do are clear.
Note –
Infinitive – To + Verb 1st Form
Gerund - Main Verb – ING
Clause - Subject + Verb + Object
