To find a percent of a number: change % to a decimal and multiply
Find 30% of 60
Step 1 ­ drop the percent sign (30% = 30)
Step 2 ­ move the decimal point 2 places to the left (30.0 = .30 = 0.3)
Step 3 ­ multiply (60 x 0.3 = 18.0)
Answer: 30% of 60 = 18
