What is SPIRIT?
SPIRIT is a European funded project, running in eight countries. It is
working with a number of different faith groups in London training up
Energy Champions to help their community reduce energy use through
delivering in-home advice visits.
SPIRIT’s aim is to reduce home energy use and therefore carbon dioxide
emissions, to help contribute to the fight against climate change. Faith
leaders are clear that the fight against climate change is a fight that
everyone needs to get involved in as an expression of their faith.

Tackling these issues also helps those that need it in our communities.
Energy bills and cold, draughty homes are a major contribution to
mental stress and physical illness. Tackling these issues can really help
people increase their health and wellbeing, as well as their finances.
BECOME AN ENERGY CHAMPION AND HELP YOUR COMMUNITY
SAVE ENERGY, MONEY AND THE CLIMATE
We’re looking for volunteers in London to get trained up to
become SPIRIT Energy Champions. Join our team and learn
how to offer valuable energy saving advice and support to your
friends, family and your wider faith community.
This leaflet explains a bit more about the project, what it is,
why you might like to get involved and how it can benefit your
community.
How it will work in
practice?
• Come along to a meeting to learn more about the project
• Take part in an energy efficiency training session
• Take part in at least three visits shadowing an energy professional
• Nominate approximately 10 friends and family to visit
• Start visiting!
You will be supported by a volunteer co-ordinator and professional energy
advisor - a ‘Green Doctor’.

• The opportunity to meet new people in your community
