Broken white lines means you may change the lane if it's safe to do so.

Solid white lines means that you're not allowed to change lanes and should stay in your lane only.
Broken yellow lines
You may pass, if it is safe to do so.
Solid yellow line
Passing is allowed but with extra caution. Double solid yellow lines
You cannot go beyond the yellow solid line, no passing is allowed.
Solid yellow line with a broken yellow line.
Passing is allowed on a solid yellow line with a broken yellow line only if broken line is closer to you.
