Southwest Montana Region Supports Townsend Hospital Fundraiser People came from Helena, Butte, Bozeman and all over to support Townsend’s hospital fundraiser, the “Good Stuff” event on Saturday. But Broadwater County checks and cash made up most of the $37,500 proceeds, according to coordinator Barbara Kirscher. Event goers kept the 4-H building at the fairgrounds full from 8:00am to 11 p.m. Saturday. The combination garage sale, auction, food and music event supported by many volunteers who helped set up, sell and take down the hundreds of sale items . Purchasers were on an honor system, to pay what they thought garage sale items were worth, while the silent and live auctions kept the place lively with bids back and forth until 8:00pm. Dorothy Hahn’s peach pie went for $400, and then was resold for $200. Cary and Debbie Ruckel, Texas chili makers ran out after serving 12 gallons of chili with cornbread. The Hospital Auxiliary members threw an overwhelming bake sale, which garnered more than $800. The Williams Family Band of Radersburg kept the folks dancing after an evening of buying trucks, trailers and riding lawn mowers. Countless volunteers and businesses kept the event going when the building’s septic tank overflowed and had to be pumped. Meanwhile hospital staff and providers who could not attend kept the hospital going. Fantastic Turnout! Everything Sold $37,500 Raised 12 gallons of Chili Gone in a Flash!
