Ms. Kizzire asked her students to assemble a project interpreting what they thought an aspect of the book represented. She wasn't disappointed in what she received. Will Sauls, JB Miller, and Baylor Arnold decided to re-create "It" from the book. They all agreed that "It" resembled Satan or something evil; they were referring to the knowledge they gathered from the book and the Internet. Good job guys! Garrett Tinch chose to do "The Man With Red Eyes" for his project. He told the class his opinion on what this character represented was temptation. The interesting thing about this particular project is he made his out of Rice Crispy Treats and fondant. Good job, Garret. Ms. Kizzire said it’s the first time she ever had an EDIBLE symbolism project turned in. Kaylee for their project. From the textual evidence, they gathered they knew that "Uriel" was a happy place, like a utopia. Good job, girls! Ms. Kizzire was and had the right to be happy with what her class presented. National News by Clair Newell The most arrested man in the world is back in court again. After being arrested over 1,500 times, Henry Earle of Lexington, Kentucky, has set the record for the most arrests ever. Earle usually lands himself in jail for public intoxication. He has spent over 6,000 days in jail during his 64 years. Earle has spent three Thanksgivings in the past five years in jail. In October, he spent his birthday in prison. "It's a weekly, if not every-twoor-three-days thing," Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts says . "He's never doing bad or illegal things purposely. ... He's just so highly intoxicated that he's posing a danger to himself." Henry was scheduled to be in Fayette County court last Thursday for probation invocation hearing due to him being arrested for alcohol intoxication. Although Earle has tried to change his ways over the years, nothing seems to be helping. Residents of Lexington are hoping for a "Christmas Miracle". They think Earle may quit his ways for good. Student Poll by Wil Sauls and Chloe Reynolds: Favorite Christmas Songs Among Students: “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” “The Christmas Song” “Last Christmas” Matched Book Review by Morgan Ouellette This week’s book review is on Matched; in this book, a society rules over everything: who you love, where you live, and when you die. The main character, Cassia, never doubted the society’s choices. When one turn fifteen you are matched or married to someone the society chooses for you. Cassia is matched to Xander ,her best friend. When she gets her chip about him, it is another guy, Ky. Ky is an aberra- tion ,someone who is no longer a complete citizen. She is mesmerized by the mistake. Now she has a choice, the only life she's ever known or the life no one has ever dared to live, passion or perfection. Volume 3, Issue 12 Editorial (iPhone Addiction) by Adolfo Sebastian How many kids have iPhones? Almost everybody. Well, did you know that iPhone addiction is a new because people would rather spend more time with their phones than with their friends. It’s not just addicting to kids; it’s also addicting to older people. Teens and adults are engaging in addictive behavior witch causes harmful consequences. Some are minor, and some are destructive. The ones that are minor are texting three letter words and the destructives are texting while driving or looking up information that have caused a bunch of accidents. There are people who shop online and mobile banking instead driving or walking to the bank or store unless the store is not in your town and is far away, and then you could order online which is one excuse I would understand. The most apps that are downloaded are games. Teens aren’t the only ones facing this addiction. More than 1/3 of adults have smartphones. According to Pew Researchers center, 2/3 of them sleep with their phones right next to them. Semester Exams by Zoe Griffus Semester exams are coming up at HMS, which means it's time to study for some people. Exams are difficult, but if you really try, you will do well. You can exempt the exams, but you have to meet certain qualifications to do this. If you have a 90 or above in a certain class, you can miss five days in that class. If you have an 80 or above in a certain class, you can miss four days in that class. C's, D's, and F's will not be acceptable to exempt. Also, if you have five tardies in a class, you will not be able to exempt. I hope everyone has a great Christmas break. Happy holidays. Uggs not only provide comfort but are fashionable too. They come in multiple colors, such as, blue, black, purple, tan, brown and many others. Uggs can have bows, fur, sparkles, and buttons that help them match almost anything that they are paired with. With that in mind, I believe that this trend will continue through winter break.
