JOHN’S SCHOOL NEWS Weekly Take Home Letter Vol. 6 No. 30 April 7, 2008 GENERAL NEWS PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES: Coming home with today’s Monday Note is your reminder for this week’s Parent/Teacher Conferences. Mark your calendars! PARENTS OF KINDERGARTEN - 7TH GRADE: Also attached to today’s Monday Note are Pre-Enrollment Forms for the 2008-2009 school year. To assist the faculty of St. John’s Lutheran School in planning for next year, please fill out these forms and return them to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. CLEAN UP DAY: Just a reminder that this Saturday, April 12, beginning at 8:00 a.m. the CES is hosting a clean up day of our Christian Education Center (CEC). Please bring whatever cleaning supplies (cleaning cloths, paper towel, cleaning products, buckets, vacuums, etc.) you wish, to help out. The more help we have the quicker the job will go! LET’S HAVE A BALL!!: You’re invited to a BALL fun day at St. John’s Lutheran Preschool on April 23 at 10:30 a.m. Come to the gym where every type of ball you can imagine will be available to play with! While your child plays, you can visit the Preschool classroom and take a look at some information about our "Preschool for Threes" program available to all children who will be three-years-old by September 1, 2008. Call the St. John’s office at 429-3636 or teacher, Mrs. MeLissa Wieting at 429-4243 to register. REPORT CARDS: Coming home this Wednesday will be your child’s 3rd Quarter Report Card. Please review the report, sign the envelope and return the same to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If you have any questions on the report, please contact your child’s teacher. RESIGNATION: Mr. & Mrs. Wieting recently announced that the Lord will be blessing them with another child in October. With a growing family and the added responsibilities that go with that, Mrs. Wieting has submitted her resignation as our Preschool teacher. We ask God’s blessings on Mrs. Wieting and our Preschool. CALL RECEIVED: On March 19, 2008, Mr. Wieting received a Call from St. Paul Lutheran Church & School in Green Bay, WI to teach 7th & 8th grade and to be principal of their school. Please keep Mr. Wieting in your prayers. ST. JOHN’S MUSICAL: We are beginning our after school practices this week. Grades 3-8 meet on Wednesday and Friday from 2:40-4:00 p.m. THANK YOU: Thanks to all who participated in our recent piano/music recital, and the Lakeside Music Festival. LUTHER PREP PLAY - GRADES K-4TH: Parents, please read the attached slip regarding a field trip to Luther Prep on May 1st. GRADES 6-8TH TRACK: Within the next week or two, 6-8th grade will begin practicing track in Phy Ed Class. This will be done in preparation for a track meet we will be going to at Luther Prep on Saturday, May 3rd. Anyone who is interested in participating at that meet is encouraged to do so. Parents, please plan to attend this meet; we are in charge of the boys’ softball throw and will need volunteers to help measure and record that event. Saturday, May 10th is another track meet that we are invited to attend in Fort Atkinson. Unfortunately, I have a prior engagement already, and will be unable to attend. If a parent or two wants to step up and be in charge of St. John’s students participating, please talk to Mr. Schauland. Otherwise, we won’t participate in the May 10th Track Meet. This opportunity is meant to get your student to set some time aside at home as study time as well as grow in his/her ability to read. Please read through the packet carefully and if you have any questions, talk with Mr. Wieting as soon as possible. BOOK REVIEW: The book reviews that were supposed to be due last Friday have been given an extension. Please keep reading your Monday Note for the new due date. 6TH GRADE WASHINGTON, D.C. TRIP: The student and chaperone meeting for the 6th Grade Washington, D.C. trip is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pardeeville High School band room. All chaperones and students are expected to be in attendance. NOVEL: This Tuesday our class will begin studying the novel Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt. On average, your child can expect to read around 50 pages a week from this novel in addition to any projects/assignments that coincide with the reading.
