the Artistic Associate
for Renaissance
Theaterworks (RTW).
She is happy to be back
directing. Her work was
previously seen in THE UNDERSTUDY and
various outreach productions. She
continues to run, refine, and expand Br!NK,
RTW’s play development series for
Midwestern woman playwrights. Mallory
Co-Directed LUCKY NUMBERS by 2014
Br!NK playwright Gwendolyn Rice, which
RTW took to the Samuel French OOB
Festival in NYC and the MKE Fringe Festival.

respects and admires! Marcee performs
with many theaters in the Milwaukee area,
appearing most recently as Samuel Chase
in 1776 (Milwaukee Opera Theatre); Ursula
in THE LITTLE MERMAID (Greendale
Community Theatre); Gertrude in HAMLET
(Unrehearsed Shakespeare Company of
Chicago); and Amelia Dyer in “-CIDE”
(Milwaukee Fringe Festival), a new work
she co-wrote and performed in. You may
have also seen Marcee behind an iconic
blue feather fan as part of the hit cabaret
FULL FRONTAL DOHERTY AND
EVERYTHING ELST with Kelly Doherty and
Ryan Cappleman. Marcee is the co-Founder
and Producing Director of Theater RED.
With her husband Christopher Elst, Theater
RED has produced four world premieres
and one Wisconsin premiere since its
inception in 2013 (proudly featuring
female playwrights in four of those five
works!) Concurrent with THE DROWNING
GIRLS, you can catch Theater RED’s world
premiere of BONNY ANNE BONNY at the
Center for Arts and Performance on the
campus of Wisconsin Lutheran College
(October 27 - November 12).
Susie Duecker (Alice)
Susie is thrilled to be
making her
Renaissance
Theaterworks debut in
THE DROWNING GIRLS!
Originally from New
Berlin, she graduated from NYU Tisch
School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama, and
has been performing in New York and
Wisconsin ever since. Although she has
done commercials, TV, and film, her

passion is still theater, and some of her
favorite credits include Rosalind in AS YOU
LIKE IT, Anne Elliot in Jane Austen’s
PERSUASION, Eliza Dolittle in MY FAIR
LADY, and Ado Annie in OKLAHOMA! She

her family and friends for their never

Elyse Edelman
(Bessie) Elyse is
thrilled to make her
Renaissance
Theaterworks debut! As
an actor in Wisconsin,
she has worked with
Forward Theater Company, American
Players Theatre, Door Shakespeare,
Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and
Luminous Theatre. She is grateful for a
relationship with First Stage which has
given her opportunities as an actor,
teacher, and headmaster. Other regional
theater credits as an actor include: The
Guthrie, Park Square Theatre, People’s
Centre Theatre, Minnesota Shakespeare Co.
(Minneapolis); the Utah Shakespeare
Festival (Cedar City); Chicago Children’s
Theatre, The Accidents (Chicago); and
Riverside Theatre in the Park (Iowa City).
Elyse is a proud graduate of the University
of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor
Training Program and the Globe Theatre in
London.
Sarah E. Ross~ (Scenic Design) Sarah
is a freelance scenic, costumes, and
properties designer based in Chicago and
has worked with American Blues Theater,
Paramount Theatre, The Second City, The
Joffrey Ballet, Shattered Globe, 16th Street
Theater, Writers’ Theatre, Theater Wit, and
Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Regionally,
she has designed scenery for Peninsula
Players Theater, TheaterSquared, Helen
Hocker Theater, and Summer Studio
Theater Company. She received a Jeff
Award for costume design for TOBACCO

Renaissance Theaterworks
ROAD (American Blues Theater) and
several nominations for scenic and puppet
designs. Sarah is the Production Manager
at American Blues Theater. She is a proud
member of Local USA 829 and the Society
of Properties Artisans Managers.
Madelyn Yee (Prop Designer) Madelyn
absolutely loves working with the women
of Renaissance Theatreworks and the
talented production teams they always
find. Currently residing in Milwaukee,
she is a freelance designer and props
artisan with a degree in Theatre Arts from
Marquette University. Recent credits
include prop design for A LOVELY SUNDAY
FOR CREVE COEUR (Milwaukee Chamber
Theatre); JULIUS CAESAR (Optimist
Theatre); and THE MOJO AND THE SAYSO
(Bronzeville Arts Ensemble/Theatre LILA);
and scenic design for THE BALLAD OF
EMMETT TILL (Renaissance Theatreworks).

Alan Piotrowicz (Lighting Designer) Alan
previously designed LETTICE AND LOVAGE

Kristina Sneshkoff (Costume Design)
Kristina is happy to join Renaissance
Theaterworks for the first time. Her

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey,
Barrington Stage Co, Two River Theatre Co.,
Seaside REP, Florida Studio Theatre, Asolo

New York credits include The Gallery
Players, Stella Adler Acting Studio, The
Looking Glass Theater, and Orange Hanky

and Forward Theater Co. She is currently
serving as the Assistant Professor of
Costume Design and Technology at UW
Stevens Point. She received her MFA in
Costume Design at Florida State University.

Anthony Lyons (Technical Director)
This season Anthony celebrates ten years
as Technical Director for Renaissance
Theaterworks. In all, he has worked
in various capacities on over thirty
Renaissance productions in the last twenty
years. Anthony is also technical director
for Wild Space Dance Company and
Luminous Theatre. Anthony has worked
for Alverno Presents, Skylight Music
Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and
Bialystock & Bloom (R.I.P.). In a parallel
universe, Anthony is a partner in a small
custom carpentry firm.
Suzan Fete (Artistic
Director) Suzan
co-founded
Renaissance
Theaterworks in 1993.
A graduate of
University of Illinois,
Suzan has over 25 years of experience as
an actor, director, and producer in
professional theater. Favorite directing
projects for Renaissance Theaterworks
include TOPDOG/UNDERDOG, THE SHAPE
OF THINGS, BLACKBIRD, NEAT, THE ROAD
TO MECCA and THE BELLE OF AMHERST.
Suzan was thrilled to bring the production
of NEAT by Charlayne Woodard to Port
Elizabeth South Africa in June 2013, as part
of RTW’s storyTravelling project- an
international theatrical collaboration.
Suzan lives happily in Wauwatosa with her
husband Jeff and son Matthew.
Julie Swenson*
(Producing Director)
Julie became
Renaissance
Theaterworks’
Producing Director in
2001 having served on
the Board of Directors since 1997. She
received a BA in theatre from Illinois
Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL.
She became a proud member of the Actors’
Equity Association in 1986 while working
in New York City. She recently performed in
SEA MARKS for Solstice Theatre and is the
host of New Home Building Today.

Lisa Rasmussen
(Development
Director) Lisa started
as Renaissance
Theaterworks’
Development Director
with excitement in the
summer of 2008. Recent experience
includes stage management for
ComedySportz-Milwaukee and more than
five years in marketing. Lisa received her
BA in Theater and Psychology from
Cardinal Stritch University in 2003. Lisa is a
member of The Association of Fundraising
Professionals. She loves living in Bay View
with husband Jake and daughter Anna.
Kat Tow (Marketing & PR Director)
Kat joined Renaissance Theaterworks
as Marketing & PR Director in 2014. She

Communications from Cardinal Stritch
University. She loves working in the arts

The mission of Renaissance Theaterworks is to create moving theatre that awakens our
recognition of what it is to be human – from classics to world premieres – with attention
to roles for women onstage and off. Renaissance Theaterworks was founded in 1993 by
