SANREMO (IM) – Today’s scrutineering, administrative checks, Shakedown and this afternoon Press Conference give the start to the 63rd edition of Rallye Sanremo, valid as round of the Italian Rally Championship. 68 crews with the top drivers challenging for the Italian Title: Paolo Andreucci-Anna Andreussi (Peugeot 208 T16) that will start first on Friday April 8th at 12:40 from Adolfo Rava Square, after them their main rivals Giandomenico Basso-Lorenzo Granai (Ford Fiesta LDi LPG supplied), and Umberto Scandola, co-driven by Guido D’Amore from Imperia (Škoda Fabia R5). Behind them a big group of private drivers like the young Simone Tempestini (Ford Fiesta R5), 21 years old, holding a Rumanian license, arriving here after winning this past weekend Rally Brasov (Rumania), and the driver from Cuneo Michele Tassone. The international touch to this year edition of the event is given by the Italian-Swiss driver Stefano Baccega (Ford Fiesta R5) with number 15; in a Ford Fiesta R5 the Ukrainian Kiev Oleksiy Tamrazov, co-driven by Nicola Arena from Genoa, and the Croatian crew Viliam Prodan-Zoran Rastegorac (Peugeot 208 R2B). Interesting to follow the challenge among Class R2B cars, for the Italian Junior Championship dedicated to young drivers, 17 crews at the start. In the lead so far the crew from Cuneo, Giorgio Bernardi-Enrico Ghietti. In Sanremo also the Renault Clio R3 Trophy, with Luca Panzani and Ivan Ferrarotti leading with the same points after the opening rally at il Ciocco and the Suzuki Rally Trophy with Stefano Martinelli in the lead. At the race on the Ligura West Coast three ladies crews: Corinne Federighi-Jasmine Manfredi (Renault Clio R3) wanting to recover the upsetting result at il Ciocco Rally, while Beatrice Calvi-Cristina Caldart (Peugeot 208 R2B) will want to confirm what so far done, and among the “modern cars”, after doing well in the A112 Abarth Trophy Historic, Lisa Meggiarin, fom Vicenza, co-driven by Silvia Gallotti, fighting for the Suzuki Rally Trophy. At its debut the new Renault Twingo R1, driven on these stages by the fast driver from Tuscany, Federico Gasperetti-Federico Ferrari. In this 63rd edition of Rallye Sanremo lots of drivers from Liguria, among them Franco Borgogno-Federico Riterini, Peugeot 207 S2000 who won the Rally Leggenda twice are now competing in the main event; the driver from Imperia Marco Cortese-Antonello Moncada, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, and the Clio R3 of the drivers from Savona Francesco Aragno-Marco Rosso and Fabrizio Andolfi Jr-Stefano Saudia. 63° Rallye Sanremo – is the second round of the Italian Rally Championship and will see at the start the major protagonists of the Italian rally series, both those aiming to win the title and the young drivers chasing the Junior title reserved to Under 25 drivers. Entries open on March 7th and close on March 29th. On Thursday April 9th the Shakedown will take place on the road to San Romolo, the same day at Sanremo Pala Fiori scrutineering and administrative checks. The rally will start from Adolfo Rava Square on Friday April 8th at 12:40 for Race 1, that will finish on Saturday April 9th at Pala Fiori at 00:18 night. Few hours to rest before the start of Race 2 (from Pala Fiori on Saturday April 9th at 06:18). The final arrival is at 16:00 in Adolfo Rava Square the same day. Race 1 has a total route of 192,93 km and 79,34 timed kilometres divided in six special stages. Only one Regrouping at Borea d’Olmo Square in Sanremo as from 16:03 on Friday April 8th. Race 2 has a total route of 331,15 km and 79,56 timed kilometres divided in five special stages. Regrouping is provided at Borea d’Olmo Square at 10:34 on Saturday April 9th 31st Sanremo Rallye Historic proposes the challenge between the Italian drivers and those competing in the European Championship. Among the 70 entrants in the historic event 13 countries are represented besides Italy. With number 1 on the car plate will start on Friday at 15:47 from Adolfo Rava Square, the winner of last year edition of the race, Matteo Musti, with Francesco Granata, Porsche 911 RS, that will have to defend himself from several fast rivals like the French Eric Comas, ex Formula 1 driver, who did very well here last year in Leg two, and the Valter Pedersen, Porsche Carrera, and from the last generation Lancia Delta 16V of “Lucky”, “Pedro”, and Peter Zanchi, the latter one winner of some edition in the ‘90s. Also for historic cars this is the second round of the 2016 season, the first one was Vallate Aretine, in March valid also for the Italian title. Two legs, the first one will start from the old Sanremo Railway station at 15:47 on Friday April 8th and will finish in Borea d’Olmo square at 21:37 after tackling 147,17 total route and 67:52 timed kilometers, divided in six special stages with one regrouping at the old railway station as from 18:34. Second leg will leave Sanremo at 8:40 on Saturday, 328 km total route 84,92 timed kilometers divided in six special stages and the traditional regrouping at Olio Carli factory in Oneglia, at14:00. At 18:38 the final arrival of the 30th Rally Sanremo Historic. The cars competing in this event are those built from 1949 till 1985. 31st Coppa dei Fiori – The regularity race is one year younger than the Historic Rally and brings to Sanremo crews coming from fifteen different countries not only European and fabulous cars. The race in the “Town of Flowers” represents is the second round of the European Historic Regularity Championship. At the event can take part cars built till 1990 and will tackle the same route of the Historic Rally, finishing on Saturday April 9th at 14:20 at Adolfo Rava Square. Scrutineering will take place on Friday April 8th from 8:00 till 12:00 at PalaFiori in Sanremo. 32 the crews entered in this race coming from nine countries besides Italy and the first to descend the starting platform in Adolfo Rava Square, will be the Finns Tairamo-Kuosmanen with the not very known in Italy Chrysler Sunbeam Avanger. At the same time will take place also the Italian Coppa dei Fiori valid as fourth round of the Italian Historic Regularity Championship with 14 crews at the start leaded by the Triumph TR3A of Marco Gandino-Danilo Scarcella, followed by the Fulvia HF of Genovesi Giovanni and Tiziana Chiesa. 8th Sanremo Leggenda – Is the “light” version of the Ligurian rally, which allow drivers who do not have the possibility to be in the main rally, to be able to tackle the special stages that contributed to create the myth of Rallye Sanremo. Competitors in 8th Sanremo Leggenda will follow those of 63rd Rallye Sanremo. Departure on Saturday April 9th at 07:40 and final arrival at 17:56 in Adolfo Rava Square. A total route of 358,12 km with 69,80 timed kilometres divided in six special stages. 22 the entered crews leaded by the Ford Fiesta R5 of Mattia Giordano-Lorenzo Paganin and Carlo Berchio Giancarla Guzzi. 1st Eco Rallye Sanremo – This is the big news of 2016 edition of Rallye Sanremo. This competition is reserved to alternative power supplied cars (electrical, hybrid LPG, methane and hydrogen). The race has a total route of 195,17 km divided in six special stages and ten Time Controls. Competitors will start from the old railway station of Sanremo on Friday April 8th at 17:43 and the arrival is provided at 14:41 the same day. Inside the Service Park in Adolfo Rava Square the Organisers will provide industrial electrical plugs to charge the vehicles. Are these kind of vehicles the future of road races?
