23 April 2013 - Cyprus Shipping Chamber Honours George Hoyt,

During the opening ceremonies of the 10th Digital Ship Cyprus
conference, Captain Eugen Adami, President of the Cyprus Shipping
Chamber, and owner of the Mastermind Group, presented an award to
George Hoyt, FNI, thanking him for his contributions to the Digital Ship
and Maritime Cyprus conferences over the last 10 years. In his
remarks, Captain Adami mentioned that Mr. Hoyt has been a good
friend to the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and an inspiration to Cyprus
Shipping community because of his innovative and persistent efforts to
enhance the safety and quality of life of seafarers by bringing them
news from home, training, etc.
George Hoyt has served in the Cyprus Shipping Chamber's Manning &
Training, ITC, and Public Relations committees. He is the founder of
NewsLink Services and Face Of Shipping, (Cyprus companies), and an
advisor to the Board Of Seagull AS of Norway. He is the Fellow of The
Nautical Institute, and an InterManager Director of Projects and
Executive Committee member. He has was the 2010 recipient of the
Lloyds List/Informa Life Time Achievement Award at their Manila
Manning & Training Conference. He is a director of the Seafarer's
Emergency Fund, an advisor to the Board of GlobalMET, and as
associate member of AMMITEC. He is a patron of the Nautical
Institute's "Alert!" program, and a Director the KPI Association. He has
participated in “Humanitarian Response to Piracy” committee, and was
non-executive director of Seagull AS of Norway Rydex of Vancouver,
and was founder and CEO of CP3500 International.
In his remarks, Mr. Hoyt thanked Capt Adami, and the Cyprus
Shipping Chamber, for allowing him to be part of their continuous
efforts to enhance the safety and quality of life for seafarers. He
further thanked the Cyprus Shipping community for providing him with
advice, opportunities and support to launch some of initiatives he has
created. Mr. Hoyt also said that the solution to providing higher
bandwidth onboard that will allow seafarers to have a great connection
to their family and friends can be found if all those participating in
Digital Ship Cyprus work together.
