EMCOR Group, Inc. launched the EMCOR Taking KidSafety to the Street™
campaign in the United States with NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children)
in September 2005. To date 1 in 7 children has been recovered as result of someone recognising
the child’s photo and notifying authorities.
Two 14-year-old girls were abducted while walking 12 blocks
to a store, and they were taken by their abductors to a closed
state park. A county deputy on a routine patrol of the closed
park noticed the car, investigated, and rescued the girls.
A 17-year-old girl was abducted by an ex-boyfriend. She was
rescued after her mother received a call from the girl’s employer.
The mother became alarmed, drove to the work place, and found
the abandoned car. The police located and rescued the girl.
Many of the stories of children recovered have happy endings
– although sadly, some do not. But perhaps worst of all for
families of missing children are the ending that never come.
Thousands of missing children are never located or identified.
But there are victories every day – a 3-year old girl
was found after disappearing from her home nearly
a year ago. A non-custodial parent had abducted and
taken her to a neighbouring state. She was recovered
and brought home safely with the help of missing
child posters displayed on EMCOR vehicles.

On The Streets EMCOR’s 400+ vehicles traveling throughout the UK act as moving billboards
to display dedicated missing children posters bearing the Missing Kids hotline
number 0808 100 8777 and website - www.missingkids.co.uk.
In Buildings The three partners in the initiative - EMCOR, the Police National Missing
Persons Bureau and PACT - explore the ways we can assist with the safety
of children in the public areas of the thousands of sites EMCOR manages.
Online The initiative goes on-line at www.emcoruk.com/kidsafety, where
the child of the month will be featured along with the information
about the programme and a special child safety brochure.
