Information on Limited Express Fares and Related Matters
■ Limited Express Tickets
Limited express fares may be limited express reserved seat fares or limited express non-reserved
seat fares depending upon the type of seat taken. Limited express reserved seat fares vary by the
season. Depending on the day of travel, they are categorized as regular-season periods,
high-season periods, or low-season periods, and the prices are different. In the case of limited
express non-reserved seat fares, or when using a Green car or sleeper car, the limited express
fare will be 520 yen less than the reserved limited express fare in the regular season.
Limited express fares for children are half the price of the adult fare (rounding off fractional
amounts).
Limited express reserved seat tickets are valid only in the assigned carriage.
Limited express non-reserved seat tickets are valid for one days for one use only per train.

■ Transfer Discounts
<Discount for Transfer Between Shinkansen and Conventional Line>
When transferring between Shinkansen and limited express trains on conventional lines at
Okayama Station, Sakaide Station, or Takamatsu Station, the limited express fare on the
conventional line will be reduced by half. The limited express fare portion will also be reduced by
half in the case of limited express Green car passage. Fares are rounded down to the nearest 10
yen.
* The discount applies to transfers from Shinkansen to conventional lines that occur on the same
day as the Shinkansen travel, and to transfers from conventional lines to Shinkansen that occur
on the same day as the conventional line travel or on the following day.
The discount applies only when the limited express and other such tickets for connecting trains in
both directions are purchased at the same time and before departure. The discount will not be
applied after the passenger has boarded the train.
When transfers are made from a conventional limited express or express train to a Shinkansen
train and then from it to another conventional limited express or express train, the discount will be
applied to whichever of the conventional line fares is highest.
<Discount for Transfer Between Sunrise Seto Train and Conventional Line>
When a transfer between the Sunrise Seto limited express sleeper and a limited express train in
the JR Shikoku area is made at Sakaide Station or Takamatsu Station on the day the passenger
boards the first train taken, or on the following day, then the limited express fare and reserved
seat fare for the portion of travel within the JR Shikoku area will be reduced by half.
■ Sleeper Car Tickets
Sleeper car fares are the same for adults and children.
The limited express fare for a sleeper car on a limited express train will be subject to a discount of
520 yen from the limited express reserved seat fare in the regular season.
When taking a sleeper car (including a private compartment) on a limited express train, the limited
