On this day people around the world will help to promote equality and human rights for all. One organisation based on the Gold Coast with social justice close to its heart, will be celebrating the day with their 1000+ staff and volunteers who will be wearing orange. ‘Orange 4 social justice’ has become a weekly feature in their th organisation and they are asking local businesses and the community to join them on 20 February, to wear orange and show their support and commitment for equality and fairness in our own communities. Vicki Batten, CEO of FSGA said, “We want people to join us by wearing orange to raise awareness and remind ourselves of the social injustices people face everyday, and the courage and strength it takes to overcome them. It’s a collective, unified and bright way for us to walk alongside others facing such challenges.” FSGA will be running asocial media campaign to raise further awareness of social injustice. If you would like to get involved in Orange 4 Social Justice then you can upload your pictures to social media with the hash tag #Orange4SocialJustice What will you wear Orange for? Here are some ideas: ·∙ Is it for equal marriage rights? ·∙ So that all children everywhere can have a better education? ·∙ To bring an end to domestic violence? ·∙ Because you believe the world can be a better place? ·∙ Because people of all abilities should have equal rights? Amanda Hargreaves who is leading the social media campaign said, “Social media is such a great way to raise awareness far and wide. We would love people to share their fun pictures and tell us why they are wearing orange for social justice. It means something different to everyone and we want to tell the world that people really do care about equality.” Caption your pictures with “I wear #Orange4SocialJustice because…” and tell the world why you are wearing orange.
