September 2005 SHEET 1 OF 6 Rectangular/Bow Front Desks Pre-assembly notes on Series 1000 Installation and Application: - Peninsulas are not intended for "stand-alone" use and must be attached to at least one Return Worktop or Bridge Worktop. - Return Worktops and Bridge Worktops with modesty panels cannot be connected to Desks with C-Legs. - Wire manager trays are 2.5" deep and should not be installed behind pedestals or lateral files. Steps 1-4: #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head 1. With the worktop face down on the floor, attach one end panel or C-leg to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. If using a C-leg, see the separate instructions for pre-assembling C-legs. 2. Attach the modesty panel to the leg with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws (two for half modesties, three for full modesties). 3. Attach the modesty panel to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 4. Attach the second leg to the worktop as in step 1 and to the modesty panel as in step 2. #10 x 3/4" Panhead Steps 5-6: 5. The optional wire manager tray can be installed anyplace under the worktop. Suggested location is against the modesty panel - use a long screwdriver to remove two screws, align the tray holes with the modesty holes, then re-install the screws. 6. The leveling glides should be adjusted the same amount, then turn the desk upright and adjust the glides as necessary to achieve a level worktop. SHEET 2 OF 6 181-15000 Corner Desks / L-Return Desks A Corner Desk is shown. An L-Return Desk is similar but will have a Full Depth End Panel or C-Leg installed on the long end of the desk. #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Steps 1-4: 1. With the worktop face down on the floor, attach one end panel to the worktop with two #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 2. Attach the modesty panel to the end panel with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws (two for half modesties, three for full modesties). 3. Attach the modesty panel to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 4. Attach the corner post to the modesty panel with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws - leaving the second set of holes facing the inside of the unit. #10 x 3/4" Panhead #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Steps 5-10: 5. Attach the second modesty panel to the corner post with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws. 6. Attach the modesty to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 7. Attach the second end panel or C-leg to the modesty panel with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws. 8. Attach the second leg to the worktop with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 9. Step 1: 1. Attach the 9" x 9" mounting plate to the column leg with two 1/4-20 x 1" machine screws. 1/4-20 x 1" Machine Screw #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Screw Steps 2-4: 2. With the worktop face down on the floor, #10 x 3/4" attach one end panel leg to the worktop with Panhead two #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. Screw 3. Attach the modesty panel to the end panel with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws (two for half modesties, three for full modesties). 4. Attach the modesty panel to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Screw Steps 5-10: 5. Attach the second end panel leg to the modesty panel with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws. 6. Attach the second leg to the worktop with two #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. #10 x 3/4" Panhead Screw 7. Attach the column leg/plate assembly from step 1 to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 8. The leveling glides should be adjusted the same amount, then turn the unit upright and adjust the glides as necessary to achieve a level worktop. SHEET 4 OF 6 181-15000 Return Worktops NOTE: Return Worktops with modesty panels cannot be connected to Desks with C-Legs (use a No Modesty (-NM) Return Worktop instead. - Wire manager trays are 2.5" deep and should not be installed behind pedestals or lateral files. Steps 1-4: 1. With the worktop face down on the floor, attach the end panel or C-leg to the worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. If using a C-leg, see the separate instructions for pre-assembling C-legs. #10 x 3/4" Panhead Screw #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Screw 2. Attach the modesty panel or gusset to the leg with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws (two for half modesties and gussets, three for full modesties). 3. Attach the modesty panel or gusset to the worktop with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws (four for modesties, two for gussets). 4. If attaching to a Desk with End Panels, attach two Modesty Brackets to the Return Modesty with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws, otherwise proceed to step 5. Steps 5-6: 5. Attach two Universal Flat Brackets to the Desk or other unit with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. Set the Return Worktop upright and onto the Flat Brackets and secure with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. Attach the modesty panel to the Desk's End Panel using the Modesty Brackets and secure with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws (if attaching to a Corner Desk, L-Return, or Peninsula, then do not use the Modesty Brackets - screw directly through the end of the modesty panel into the holes of the mating End Panel see page 6 Bridge Worktops for an example). 6. Adjust the leveling glides as necessary. Modesty Attaching Bracket #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Screw 181-15000 #10 x 3/4" Panhead Screw SHEET 5 OF 6 Bridge / Radius Panel Worktop NOTE: Bridge Worktops with modesty panels cannot be connected to Desks with C-Legs (use a No Modesty (-NM) Bridge Worktop instead. Bridge Worktop Steps 1-3: 1. Attach two Universal Flat Brackets to each Desk or other unit that the Bridge will connect onto with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. Set the Bridge Worktop onto the Flat Brackets and secure with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 2. Attach the modesty panel (if so equipped) to the Bridge Worktop with four #10 x 3/4" panhead screws, then attach the modesty panel to the Desks' End Panels using the Modesty Brackets and secure with #10 x 1/2" black truss head screws. If attaching to a Corner Desk, L-Return, or Peninsula, then do not use the Modesty Brackets - screw directly through the end of the modesty panel into the holes of the mating End Panel. 3. Adjust the leveling glides as necessary on the connected units. #10 x 3/4" Panhead Screw #10 x 1/2" Black Truss Head Screw Modesty Attaching Bracket Radius Panel Worktop Steps 1-3: 1. Attach two Universal Flat Brackets to each Desk or other unit that the Worktop will connect onto with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. Set the Worktop onto the Flat Brackets and secure with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. 2. Slide a Panel Attaching Bracket between the fabric and the radius panel frame. Slide the Bracket up against the Worktop and secure with #10 x 3/4" panhead screws. The second Bracket may have to be flipped over to attach correctly to the panel and Worktop.
