Old Business – Approval of Minutes
The minutes from the September, 2016 meeting were distributed by Hollie Meeuwsen, PTO Secretary, via email
after the September meeting to those in attendance, posted on the PTO webpage and posted on the Facebook page.
They were also reviewed by the board and PTO members present at the meeting. Jamie Ryder made a motion to
approve the minutes and was seconded by Elizabeth Reus.
New Business – Approval of Treasurer’s Report
The treasurer’s report for November, 2016 were distributed by Jennifer Putnam, PTO Treasurer, and reviewed by
the board and PTO members present at the meeting. Pam Andrulis made a motion to approve the minutes and was
seconded by Toni Verburg.
Walk – A – Thon; Amanda Jones, Committee Chair (as presented by Holly Valencia)
The Walk-A-Thon fundraiser was held on September 30, 2016. Again, this year we exceeded the goal ($17,000.00)
with a total of $17,453.03 in donations. The excess beyond the goal, $453.03 will be transferred to the Playground
Fund.
The Lower EL class with the most donations was Mrs. Shrewsbury’s 2nd grade class with $1,598.11 and 58%
participation.
The Upper EL class with the most donations was Mrs. Petrosky’s 5th grade class with $1,854.00 and 57%
participation.
The carnival pass wristband winner was Carter Moorlag from Mrs. Coolman’s classroom.
The overall participation was lower this year than last year. Last year the participation was more in the mid 70’s.
The incentive t-shirts have been delivered along with the blankets. Once the synch backpacks are received they will
be distributed to those that hit the incentive requirement.
There was discussion of creating more visuals, such as a pie chart, of what the money from Walk-A-Thon goes to for
next year to bring more awareness to parents. Additional discussion was had regarding potential shoe charms for
the students next year as an added incentive to increase participation.

Key Card Coupon Book; Allison Pitsch, Committee Chair
The sale has closed with 265 books sold, which is down from last year’s total of 301 books sold. Given the difference
in the books sales, the estimated profit is $3,312.50. There are still 11 outstanding books that need to be paid for or
returned to the office. Gavin Grayson had the highest sale of books.
The Lower EL class with the most books sold was Mrs. Tompkins class.
The Upper El class with the most books sold was Mrs. Petrosky’s class.
There was discussion regarding the timing of the book sale given it was right after Walk-A-Thon.
BoxTops/Labels for Education; Sue VanEss, Committee Chair (as presented by Lisa Walbeck)
We are expecting a check in the amount of $1,594.70. This includes $201.00 from over the summer, $648.80 from the
last contest at the end of the school year last year and lastly $744.90 from the contest that just closed.
Labels for Education is coming to an end, so please send in anything you have put aside to close out that campaign.
The next contest will be run in March.
Spirit Wear Sale; Heather Scavo, Committee Chair
We will be running a spirit wear sale starting next week through November 22, 2016. There will be t-shirts, long
sleeve shirts, hoodies and beanie hats. Order Forms will be sent home with your student and can also be picked up

Conferences. Additionally, the form will be included in the Wednesday Word and the PTO Webpage. The clothing
will be sent home prior to Christmas. Money is due with the order form. The vendor being used is Pam Smith.
P/T Conference Dinner; Lisa Walbeck, Organizer
Once again the PTO will provide dinner for the staff during the P/T Conferences. Thank you to all those that signed
up to help. The dinner will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. There is still a need for set up and clean up
volunteers. The volunteer link is found on the PTO Facebook page.
Heritage Day; Pam Andrulis, Committee Chair
Is an event that is for the Lower EL only. There are different activities for each grade. The event will take place this
year on Friday, November 18, 2016. The final schedule will come out in the Wednesday Word prior to the event.
Adults can purchase a turkey lunch for $5.25 (cash) and students will get the lunch for $2.25 by using their student
account. There is still a need for volunteers to assist with various duties for the event.

stream. It will end on 12/31/16. Please be sure to get any you currently have turned into the containers in the
Cafeteria.

The asphalt has been poured for the basketball courts. The hoops and the painting are still being worked on and the
goals is to have them done yet this fall.
Kettle Lake Night is happening on Friday, November 18, 2016. Ticket order forms were sent home and are a first
come first served basis. There are limited tickets so be sure to turn them in as soon as possible. There will be both a
silent and a live auction, like last year. The catalog preview should be sent out via email next week.
The committee is working with Amelia Otto Photography on a fundraiser that will consist of 30 minute “mini”
sessions to take place at Wildwood Farms, at a cost of $75.00 per session.
The committee is also working on a Craft/Vendor Sale on Saturday, March 4, 2017. Currently the committee is
considering hosting the event at Camp O’Malley. The crafters and vendors that participate will be asked to donate
a % of their profits to the Playground Fund.
Phase II for the Playground was unveiled. Highlights include:
•
•
•
Boardwalk Pavilion large enough to have 6 tables
Donor Plaque area (another campaign will be run in the Spring of 2017)

The program will start on January 3, 2017. It is for 1st through 5th graders and is a Read & Reward program.

qualify will be able to attend a sleepover at the school. The sleepover will be held on March 10, 2017. Similar to last
year, the 1st graders will be not be able to attending the sleep over, but are welcome to attend all of the events of the
evening until 10:30pm the night of the sleep over. The top 2 individuals for each grade level will be able to
participate in the Principal Challenge. The goal this year is 6,000 hours. The theme for this school year is “Under
the Big Top”.
•
Note: Please keep the theme a secret from the students until it is unveiled to them early in 2017.
Moms & Misters; Audrey Barker, Committee Co-Chair
This year’s event will be drive in movie at the High School. The thought is to be more of a picnic type event with
moms and sons outside for games and activities, while eating popcorn watching the movie. The date has not been
finalized yet, but potential dates include May 12th or May 19th. They are also still working on the movie that will be
played. If the weather does not cooperate to allow the event to be held outside the event will be moved to the
gymnasium. More information to come.
