scholarship, please let the Guidance Office know. We need this information for
the Awards Program for graduation.
If you have received a scholarship through the Scoop, be sure to pick up a Scholarship Recipient Form in the
Guidance Office. This form needs to be filled out and returned to Mrs. Santos in the Student Finance Office in
order to receive your scholarship money.
Be sure to send a Thank You Card to the sponsor of the scholarship you were awarded. Addresses can be found
in the Guidance Office.

2017 Nevada Summer Transportation Institute: UNLV will host the 2017 Nevada Summer Transportation Institute Program for high school
participants from July 17-31, 2017. This will be a residential program where the participants will reside on the UNLV campus and participate
in transportation related activities. The purpose of the NVSTI Program is to create awareness and stimulate interest in high school students to
take full advantage of the opportunities that exist in the transportation industry. Successful participants will receive full scholarships to
participate. Pick up applications in the Counseling Office. Applications are due to the sponsor 6/2/17 by 5:00 p.m.
BUCK LIVELY SCHOLARSHIP – The Nevada Ground Water Association is offering a scholarship. This renewable scholarship is offered
to seniors who are Nevada residents. Pick up applications in the Guidance Office. Applications are due to the sponsor 5/30/17.
DISCOVER STUDENT LOANS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM- Discover Student Loans will be awarding 40 $2,000.00 scholarships at
www.CollegeCovered.com/Assist. Ten winners will be randomly drawn per quarter. See website for more details.
EGC WOMEN IN LAW SCHOLARSHIP – This $500 scholarship is available to any full time college student or high school senior

ASPIRING FASHION PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP – This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are

ASPIRING ANIMATION PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to

ASPIRING BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARHIP – This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are

NURSING SCHOOLS ALMANAC – Website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates: (1) a track record
of academic excellence, particularly in science and math; (2) a passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare.

UNIVERSITY OF NEVADA, RENO – Summer Session is offering tuition awards ($1,500) value on a first-come, first serve basis. Please

BIGSUN SCHOLASHIP 2017-All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in and must be a high school senior.
Please send us a short essay (500 - 1,000 words) answering the following questions: How did your participation in sports during your high
school years influence you? Has your participation influenced your career goals? Has your participation influenced how you relate to your
family? Deadline June 19, 2017.Please remember to include your name and the name of the school that you are attending. All essay

B. DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP– Interested students need to include their name and the school you are currently attending. To apply for this
scholarship you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on: “Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.
Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.” Submit by 5/22/17 to

4-YEAR NAVY ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS- Eligible students must be US citizens with no criminal record or history of drug use, high
school seniors in the top 20% of their class, qualifying SAT scores (530 critical reading; 600 math; 1230 combined) or ACT scores (22
English, 26 math, 54 combined); exhibited leadership qualities and regarded as a role model by teachers and peers. Please contact Petty Officer

WOFFARD SCHOLARS PROGRAM. Juniors who are interested in attending Woffard College and who rank in the top 10% of their class,
have a SAT score of 1250 or ACT of 28, and who demonstrate qualities of scholarship, leadership, and potential for success are invited to
speak to their counselors for a nomination for the Woffard Scholars Program. Qualified candidates are eligible to compete for scholarships

2017 HORATIO ALGER CAREER & TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS – Eligibility criteria includes – completion of
high school or plan to complete high school by Spring 2017 and will be enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2017; exhibit a strong commitment
to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the US; demonstrate financial
