Enjoy meeting new and old friends and feel the excitement of all the experiences that come with a Langley’s coach tour. Travel across central New South Wales crossing the Hay Plain and on to tonight’s overnight accommodation at Balranald. Day 2: Thursday 23 November 2017 BD Balranald~ Mildura~ Renmark~ Adelaide Murray Princess In 1879 the first bridge to span the Murray River was built at Edwards Crossing, which quickly became the bustling township of Murray Bridge. After a hearty breakfast, join a guided tour of the town’s historic landmarks and local attractions. Continue cruising upriver with a brief stop-over in Mannum for a fascinating visit to the Mannum Dock Museum (own expense). This afternoon, continuing cruising upriver to the overnight mooring at Salt Bush Flat where you will have the opportunity to inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by the talented crew. Day 5: Sunday 26 November 2017 BLD Murray Princess All ashore for the guided nature walk where our guide will share the secrets of the local flora and fauna. It’s a great way to get in a little exercise before the PS Murray Princess departs for the big river gorges and 90 metre cliffs of the upper river. Midmorning, join us in the Sturt Dining Room for a special presentation on the bounty of food and wine produced in the riverlands. Just after Fromms Landing, we turn and head downriver to River View Lodge (near Piggy Flat/Coolcha) where our discovery vessel awaits for a wildlife tour. Travelling in small, personalised groups, we explore the maze of the river and the birdlife is amazing. Watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river’s muddy edges. The afternoon offers a choice of bocce or fishing challenges before joining the Captain and Officers for pre-dinner drinks and the Captain’s Dinner and Dance. Departing Balranald this morning, cross into Victoria at Mildura and into South Australia before entering Renmark. (Please note that no fruit or vegetables are allowed into South Australia.) Pass through the Riverland town of Berri before travelling through the Barossa Valley and onto South Australia’s capital city of Adelaide. Day 3: Friday 24 November 2017 BLD Adelaide~ Murray Princess After breakfast, travel back into the Barossa Valley to Tanunda where a local guide will board the coach. Explore and taste the foods and wine that the Barossa Valley is famous for on the Butcher, Baker and Winemaker trail that will culminate into a gourmet picnic lunch of local food and wine. Continue on to Mannum, the birthplace of the Murray River trade and the home port for the PS Murray Princess. After boarding, settle into your cabin for the mid-afternoon departure including a welcome aboard dinner this evening. Cruise under the floodlight to the overnight mooring at Caurnamont where you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. Watch for kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species. The on-board entertainer provides music for the night owls. Day 10: Friday 1 December 2017 BD Murray Princess ~ Broken Hill After breakfast we reluctantly say farewell to PS Murray Princess as we disembark at the Mannum Wharf. Re-board the 6 star Langley’s Coach and travel through South Australia’s mallee country to join the Barrier Highway at the township of Burra. Continue on through Oodla Wirra and Yunta, passing into New South Wales at Cockburn and on to tonight’s destination of Broken Hill. Day 6: Monday 27 November 2017 BLD Murray Princess This morning we head back to Mannum and after breakfast, discover Australia’s richest and best known wine making region – the Barossa. Depart Mannum by coach to the famous Barossa, the beautiful ‘valley of the vine’ and the source of about a quarter of Australia’s world-renowned wines. You will visit two premium wineries, enjoy lunch and fantastic scenery before returning to the PS Murray Princess at Mannum and cruising towards our overnight mooring at Caurnamont. The on -board entertainment provides music for the night owls. Day 11: Saturday 2 December 2017 B Broken Hill~ Cobar ~ Nyngan ~ Dubbo Travel (back) on the Barrier Highway, retracing our steps back through Wilcannia, Cobar, Nyngan and finally home to Dubbo. Day 7: Tuesday 28 November 2017 BLD Murray Princess Daybreak and time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific birdlife includes pelicans, wrens and swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising upriver to Blanchetown through one of the 13 locks which maintain the flow and levels of water. This afternoon moor opposite to the township of Blanchetown for the overnight anchorage. As the last rays of sun fade, we join a guided tour of Burk Salter vineyards to enjoy wine tasting at the cellar door which is fitted out with the beautiful red gum bars. After dinner, join in the fun and excitement of the “Murray River Cup”. Day 8: Wednesday 29 November 2017 BLD Murray Princess After breakfast cruise downriver to the picturesque Swan Reach. The town was first settled in the 1850’s and was originally the largest of five sheep and cattle stations in the area. The original Swan Reach Homestead is now Swan Reach Hotel where you can enjoy an ale or cappuccino overlooking the Murray River (own expense). Join the guided walking tour and visit the Swan Reach Museum, a must for every visitor. Cruise downriver after lunch and take in the tranquillity as the landscape slides by. Arriving at Sunnydale, it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australia woolshed history. Later, visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. Dinner tonight is the Great Aussie Barbeque, cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River. An optional Nocturnal tour by tractor and cart is available after dinner (own expense) Day 9: Thursday 30 November 2017 BLD Murray Princess After an optional early morning Bush Tucker Breakfast (own expense) or a bush walk with the Captain, the vessel cruises slowly downriver past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. Disembark at the Ngaut Nguat Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about Aboriginal history in the area. Return to the vessel to cruise downriver to Younghusband and The Murray River is 2,530km long. The Murray River rises near Mount Kosciuszko in the Australian Alps and flows 2,530 km to the Southern Ocean, near Goolwa in South Australia. The Murray River is Australia’s longest single river.
