The Fall Festival
By Keisie
Have you ever been to a fall festival?
We had a Fall Festival in October. Everybody came, and we had so much fun. We had
hotdogs, games and horse rides. We also had face painting and kids came in costume. We
played on the new playground. Everybody from the apartments and out of the apartments
came to the fall festival. A lot of volunteers came to help out. The new playground helped
out because more people came to to the fall festival. After the fall festival, everyone went
‘trick or treating’ because it was Halloween.
I wish you were there at our wonderful fall festival!
Hi, I am Bill and I live in Willow Pond!
My favorite thing is cars.
I love them because there are fast and there is a lot of variety.
I also like them because they cost a lot of money.
My favorite kind of cars are sports cars.
MCLARENS SPORTS CARS
It can go at 219 miles per hour.
It has instant power. It also has an
electric motor. It accelerates from
0---62 in 2.8 seconds! It takes 6.2
seconds to brake from 190 miles
per hour. McLaren also
comes in different colors.
It was founded in 1963 in the UK.
They race in F1 and have won many
times. They celebrated their first
victory in the Indianapolis 500 42
years ago.
It costs $1.2million---$1.6million.
It takes 61 engineers to fix a McLaren
each day.
“Some people think they are
street legal but, I think they are
not.
If you steal one and the police
try to chase you, you can
easily outrun them!”
OUR PLAYGROUND
By: Keisie
Before the new playground…
…. Before
we had this wonderful park we have today, there was nothing for
us kids to play on. At first we had a little park that was very tiny and it
almost looked liked it was just for little kids. Until KABOOM built us this
wonderful park we have today.
Our ministry is called B.E.D which stands for
behind every door. They asked for a new
playground for the apartment.
So Target donated money and Chick---fil---A
donated food for the people who were
working on the playground.
Almost two hundred volunteers came out and
worked on the playground and it only took
them 24 hours to build it.
Once all the hard work was done, we had a
wonderful new playground to play on!
Making Christmas Cookies
by Amaani
One day, I jumped up on a really early morning and thought I was late. I put
on my clothes and shoes then ran out the door. But, I was really on time for
making Christmas cookies. I got in the car feeling a little scared and
embarrassed. Just when I was coming down I felt pretty good. I buckled up my
seatbelt and was on my way!...
We finally got to the area where the house was. But...where was the house! We
were looking around and it took a while but someone came out and waved to get
our attention. We finally looked over their and saw him. We were confused but
then we ran over there and then Miss Fiona came to the door. Then we knew it
was her house and we were not lost.
Here’s our recipe if you’d like to try it.
2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of butter, softened
Prep in: 15 mins
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cups of white sugar
Cook in: 10mins
Ready in: 25mins
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking
powder. Set aside.
2.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.
3.
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonful of dough into balls, and place
onto ungreased cookie sheets.
4.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two
minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
Then we went inside her house and it was amazing, her house was beautiful, she
showed us around. We played for a little bit then we started to make the cookies.
We added a lot of ingredients, (flour, sugar, baking soda, vanilla, butter and
eggs).
We doubled the amounts so that we could have more for everyone. We put them
in the oven in small batches. We took them out the oven and let them cool off.
Miss Fiona got out the sprinkles and chocolates and we made icing. Then we ate
them!
But it was time to go, everyone was sad then we got in the car and went home.
