The following activities will promote hand strength. • Modeling clay, play dough, or silly putty – poke it, hide things in it, roll it, and make letters with it. • Clothes pins – play with them, color them, squeeze them, make things with them • Punch holes in a card and create lacing cards using yarn or shoelaces • Tweezers – use tweezers to pick up all sorts of things • Wring out wet paper towels, face clothes, in the tub • Games such as Lite-Brite, Etch-A-Sketch, and Colorforms • Folding paper – making airplanes, boats, hats, or cards Mrs. Dupont We appreciate your help in creating accountability with your student to complete their homework daily. If your child makes an error while reading try one or more of the following strategies to help: 1. First wait and see if your child selfcorrects the error when s/he comes to the end of the sentence. If the error is self-corrected, give positive reinforcement. 2. If the error is NOT self-corrected when s/he comes to the end of the sentence, gently say wait a minute…Did that make sense? Read that sentence again please. Thanks, Mrs. Williams Ms. Johnson’s Class News It has been a great beginning to our school year in room 109.
