IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS PLEASE DRIVE 25 As Caldera Springs comes to life this summer with outdoor activities and recreation, we ask owners and guests to please be cautious when driving through the property. Be courteous of the many families walking and riding bikes throughout the community, and remember that the speed limit is 25 MPH. REMINDER FOR PET OWNERS: • Doggie restroom stations are available in both Ponderosa Park and Sable Rock Park for your convenience. • Please remember all dogs must be on a leash. PARKING REMINDER • Up to 4 cars allowed in the drive way • No road-side parking • Trailers, campers, etc. are not allowed to be parked in Caldera Springs. Hammertime Hardware offers secure parking for all types of recreational vehicles. Contact them at 541-593-8168 for pricing and parking availability. Keep Caldera Springs Native: HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF NOXIOUS WEEDS Protect your property by destroying noxious weeds and saving native vegetation. Weeds invasive to our area include diffuse knapweed, Scotch thistle, orange hawkweed and many more. As owners, you are responsible for pulling these weeds from your property. The earlier in their growth process you pull them, the better off you will be! If you see them in community areas, please contact Kathleen Pope at 541-593-4852. For more pictures and information, please review the Deschutes County Noxious Weeds Control Page at http://www.deschutes.org/ Road/Noxious-WeedProgram/Noxious-Weed-Control.aspx. Knapweed Orange Hawkweed SQUIRREL! TI’S THE SEASON According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, as the weather gets warmer squirrels become much more active. Here are some tips to prevent conflicts and address concerns about squirrels: Don’t Feed Squirrels. • Squirrels that are fed by humans can lose their fear of people and become aggressive when they don’t get food as expected. HOW DO YOU STAIN A BRIDGE OVER A LAKE? YOU BUILD A BOAT OF COURSE! When it came time to stain the suspension bridge over Caldera Springs, Webfoot Painting owners Gavin and Travis had to think outside of the box. A canoe or kayak would be too unbalanced and wouldn’t allow for a proper work platform. And, there was not a boat ramp available for a larger vessel. What better an opportunity for them to have a little fun! So how many buckets does it take to keep a grown man and tools afloat? (See all of the photos from Webfoot Painting on their Facebook Page: http://on.fb.me/1SyOTcs) GATE REMINDER: HARPER GATE The Harper Road gate, which connects the community to the Sunriver Business Park, is designated for Caldera Springs owner use only. The intention of this gate is to provide owners with convenient access to the post office and other businesses in that area. In an effort to limit traffic to owners only, the key pad at this gate has been removed. A transponder will be necessary to enter the community at this gate moving forward. If you need a transponder, please contact Kathleen Pope. • Remove bird feeders if squirrels are a problem. Eliminate Access to Buildings. • Repair or replace loose or rotting siding, boards and shingles. • Inspect attic and crawl spaces during the day so cracks and holes are illuminated. Close openings to buildings with heavy ¼ to ½ inch wire mesh. • Cover the dryer vent with a commercial vent screen designed to exclude animals without clogging lint. • Install approved roof-vent caps that are designated to exclude squirrels. • Trim limbs and trees to 6 to 8 feet away from buildings to prevent squirrels from jumping onto roofs. Gate Directory Access The gates at Dancing Rock Loop and Trailmere Circle are equipped with a community directory and communication system that allows your guests to call you directly from the gate. This system also allows you to open the gate remotely from your phone. To protect the integrity of your personal gate access code, we strongly encourage all residents to utilize this service. If you would like to be added to the directory, please provide Kathleen Pope with the name and telephone number you would like to utilize. Gate Codes The Owners Association will be changing the way gate access codes are assigned. As part of this process, we would like to ask owners to please select a new 4-digit access code, and provide it to Kathleen Pope by June 8th. One code will be assigned per property. To open the gate once the new code is activated, press the “#” button followed by your 4-digit access code on the keypad. Please remember that this access code is intended for immediate family use only. Guests visiting you at your home should contact you via the gate directory so you may open the gate for them remotely. If you have a guest staying in your home for an extended stay, please contact the Lake House Concierge at 541-593-4851 for a temporary access code. Fun Golf for Everyone!
