Community National Bank
In October of 1984, Community National
Bank opened for business as the new bank
in Seneca, Kansas. To the 15 original organizers, Community National was started
to provide a banking alternative for the local population in, what had been to that
point, a one bank town. A key founding
principle for providing banking services to
Seneca and the surrounding area was local
ownership. The organizers strongly believed that the public was best served when
the individuals making the decisions that
guided the bank lived, worked and understood the unique needs of the community.
The Bank continues to practice this principle today, by having stockholders in each of
our markets.
From that humble beginning in 1984, Community National Bank has grown into a
$350MM company with 4 banking locations, the Retirement Plans Division and
Invisor, the recently opened 401K Administration business. Today, the Bank employs 75 people and is a great example of
what is possible when a good idea meets
hard work.
One
person
was
instrumental in the
Bank’s
formation, its early success and
for guiding the
institution
throughout its history. That man is Don
Lueger. Don has announced that, effective
January 1st; he will be retiring from the day
-to day operations of the company. I’d like
to take the next few sentences to
acknowledge Don’s continuing and lasting
contribution to Community National and
the Seneca area.
Member FDIC
Ronald C. Johnson,
President & C.E.O.
Don was the driving force behind the formation of Community National Bank. As a
CPA, Don had the skills and knowledge
needed to navigate the mountain of paperwork and regulatory requirements required
to start a new bank. But, more importantly,
he is a great entrepreneur; and had a vision
of what it takes to make an organization
successful. From planning to execution,
Don was able to guide the Bank and bring
to reality what a community bank should be
and the service it would need to provide to
its customers.
But, Don’s influence extended beyond this
contribution to the Bank. He was integral
in helping establish the STEP Foundation, a
community foundation serving all of Nemaha County. In addition, Don assisted in the
formation of Seneca Community Investors,
an organization that worked jointly with the
Seneca Golf Club and the City of Seneca to
create the Spring Creek golf course and
housing development.
Throughout the years, in addition to serving
on the STEP Foundation Board, Don served
on the Seneca Chamber of Commerce, the
Nemaha Valley Community Hospital
Board, St. Mary’s Parish and Finance
Councils, and St. Benedict’s College Board.

While stepping away from the day-to day operations of the Bank, Don will continue to
contribute to the company he helped found by
serving on the Bank and Holding Company
Boards and on the Board of the newly formed
Invisor.
To say Don’s contributions to Community
National are appreciated understates the mag-
nitude of his work, but this is a time when
words just can’t express our gratitude.
Congratulations Don on your many years of
service and a job well done. Thanks for what
you meant to Community National Bank and
the success of this organization.

US Department of Justice statistics, it’s now

Identity theft occurs when someone uses your
name, address, Social Security Number, credit card or financial account numbers, passwords, and other personal information without your knowledge to commit fraud or other
crimes.
The simple fact is you can protect yourself
against most forms of identity theft. The first
step is education. Visit our website

divided identity theft into the five “Danger
Zones.” Take a few moments to learn about
each of the Danger Zones and the steps you
can take to avoid being a victim.

As I complete my second full
year as Community National
Bank Market President in
Basehor, I again reflect back
on all of the blessings of last
year.
Our community continues to
share in our local robust economic development. Recent
labor market data shows employment figures in Leavenworth County improving.
According to the Kansas De-
partment of Labor, the unemployment rate for Leavenworth County dropped from
5.3% to 4.8% and employment grew from 31,308 to
33,537 last year – and increase of 2,229 jobs. We
have seen six new businesses
open in Basehor in the last
four months and our local
single family construction is
still very active.
Community National Bank
benefited from this activity
as we enjoyed our best financial year ever. We are truly
blessed with the “best customers and employees” any
bank can have. In the eleven
years we have been in Basehor, last year was our best.
We thank all of you for your
patronage and the confidence
you have in us to be stewards
of your financial affairs. We
could not have done it without the “best”.

We have also added to our
Basehor Bank Family. Hannah Hamilton joined the
Bank October 8th and will be
working as a teller. She is
the daughter of Pastor Tom
& Cheryl Hamilton and they
are from Tonganoxie. Please
stop by the Bank and welcome her to the Bank.

2015 is quickly coming to a
close. It seems like as soon

have all caught our breath,
school starts and our time
schedules get pushed into
high gear. Autumn turns into
fall and then into winter almost before you realize it.

As I get older, I realize how
important it is to look back
and reflect on how our lives
are going or what changes or
improvements need to be
made.
Several years ago, my kids
gave me a devotional calendar that shares daily words of
love, wisdom and encouragement. I keep this calendar in
my office at the bank and it is
typically the first thing I read
each morning.
Recently, one of the personal
messages really caught my
attention, it said “Over and
over, it has been made crystal
clear to me that the basics of
life are important - love of
God, family, and friends; a
commitment to integrity . . .
and a commitment to leadership.”- Monte Clark.
