1 free skill level SUPPLIES & TOOLS: • Crayola® Model Magic®: blue, red, yellow • Glass beads • Jewelry Designer cord: blue, orange, yellow • Glitter: orange, yellow • Wooden skewers or toothpicks • Scissors • Small plastic bags • Waxed paper DIRECTIONS: Blue Necklace: 1. Pinch off some blue Model Magic® and a bit of yellow. Blend them together for a few seconds, sprinkle on some yellow glitter, and then shape into a teardrop. Pierce the top with a skewer to create a hole large enough for 4 pieces of cord to fit through. Set aside to dry for 24 hours. 2. Continue to pinch and mix blue and yellow Model Magic® and glitter, forming pairs of beads in graduated sizes. Pierce with the skewer and allow beads to dry while on the skewer. Tip: While piercing the beads, keep twisting the skewer for a moment to prevent them from sticking. Rotate them from time to time while working on the remainder of the beads. Let dry for 24 hours. 3. Measure out blue and yellow cord to twice the length you want the finished necklace to be. At the center of the cord, make a loop of the two cords and push them through the hole from behind. Place the tails through the loop and carefully pull taut. String the 2 blue cords through a glass bead, bring all four cords together above the bead and tie a knot. 4. From that point, on each side, string one yellow and one blue cord through all Model Magic® beads, but only string the yellow cord through the glass beads – allowing the blue cord to lay alongside the glass bead until it goes through the next Model Magic® bead. 5. Tie knots between beads. Create your own pattern, incorporating Model Magic® and glass beads. Tie a knot at the end and trim. model magic necklaces more projects, tips & techniques at Joann.com™ Project courtesy of Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores Designed by Connie Glennon-Hall ® DIRECTIONS (continued): Orange Necklace: 1. Form the beads as described in the previous directions, making a heart shape instead of teardrop shape as in the blue necklace. 2. Once the heart is positioned on the 2 cords, the cords are divided – one orange, one yellow – and knots tied. 3. String a glass bead onto one cord and allow the second cord to lay alongside the bead. Next, string both cords through the Model Magic® bead. At the next glass bead, allow the opposite color cord to lay alongside the bead. Continue this pattern for both sides of the necklace, to the ends. Tie a knot at the end and trim. NOTE: Keep unused portions of Model Magic® in tightly sealed plastic bags, as suggested by manufacturer. It dries out quickly.
