Message from the Head of School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Another busy week at High Cliff Academy. We welcome Mr Harvey and Miss Gilbert to our
school as they are on their teaching placement from the University of Brighton. Thank you to all
of those who could attend the Parent/Teacher consultation meetings. For those of you that
missed an appointment or would like a slightly longer meeting do contact the office who will
schedule an alternative meeting with the class teacher.
A big thank you to our catering team who provided delicious food tasting on this day. Next half
term, parents will receive an invitation to join us for lunch so hopefully those who missed out can
try something from our new menu then. If Nursery children would like to have a hot lunch let
the front office know
Thank you to the parents who attended the Home Learning session. I know some parents wanted
to come for an after school session which we will rearrange for the first week back of Spring 2.
This Friday I will be running a phonics support session in the hall for 9.00-9.30 and 3.10 – 3.40.
All parents are welcome to attend.

Message from the PTA:
Christmas Party – We raised an amazing £217.92, thank you
all so much for your support.
Following the PTA meeting it has been agreed that with the
funds raised so far the money will go towards a Mud Kitchen,
two Raised Flower Beds for the Children to plant
vegetables/flowers in, and redecoration of the Library
(seaside theme, story stacks and cosy seating area).
Film afternoon: On Thursday 9th February
3:00 – 4:30pm the PTA will be holding a film
afternoon. The film will be Bugs Life which
fits in with our mini beast visit. Prices are
£2 per ticket and these can be purchased
from the Front Office. Thank you.
If your child attends after school club on
this day they can be refunded or their

Named Uniform
Could all Parent/Carers please remember

Active Kids Vouchers
We are collecting the Active Kids vouchers from
Sainsbury’s again this year. We did really well last
year with just a small amount of children so we are
aiming to collect a lot more this year. Closing date
is June 30th so get collecting, thank you.
Could we please remind
Parents/Carers that smoking is not
permitted on school premises and
please refrain from using e-cigarettes
on site as we do not want the children
to see this as a positive alternative to
smoking.

Dolphin News
In Maths the children have been adding numbers using counters and number lines.
In English the children have been thinking about the story of the Owl Babies.
If possible could the children please bring into school a
Pebble from the beach. The children will use these as part
Of their Art lesson on Wednesday 1st February.

Penguin and Puffin News
The children have been learning the story of The Three Little Pigs. They have started to
make Puppets and sequencing the story by drawing pictures onto a story board.
Tiny Turtle News
Tiny Turtles have been learning about the story of Goldilocks and
the Three Bears. We have also been looking at the difference
between Big, Medium and Small.
