Tongue Twisters
See how many times you can say these
sentences without getting tongue tied.
• “Three free throws.”
• “A fat thrush flies through thick fog.”
• “Swan swam over the sea. Swim,
swan, swim! Swan swam back again.
Well swum, swan!”
Be a park preserver!
Here is a useful idea which will make
you very popular. To find out what it is,
read out the sentence below replacing
the wrong vowels with the right ones!
Af you brong a drenk or snuck to the
perk, pat your rabbush in a bun or tike
ot heme. Whon you da, the pork will
leek nice fur the naxt kud who cames
aling to ploy.
I.SPY. See how many
of these objects you
can spot in the park
Parks are great for ball games - why not
take a small one with you in a bag - it won’t
take up much room and you could play
‘Target Ball
’
Here’s how it works:
• Choose a target area e.g. a small area of
wall, a tree, or a bench.
• Give everyone a number starting at 1;
this is the order in which you play.
• Number 1 stands about 10 metres away
from the target and throws the ball so
that it hits the target and bounces off.
• Number 2 has to chase after it and
throws it at the target from where it’s
caught.
• Number 3 chases next. If you miss the
target you are “out” until the next round!
Skeleton Family Challenge
Make a skeleton family out of sticks or other
natural objects that you can find around – for
instance twigs, leaves, berries, seeds (don’t
pick any flowers!) Decide on who finds the head
and the body of each skeleton person; maybe
the younger ones find the arms and legs. Add a
dog and a cat if you wish or even a house. Take
a photo of your skeleton family when you have
finished for your memory book!
Obstacle Race Challenge
Find an area of the park where there are things
to run around, under or over, like trees, bridges,
bushes, tumps, benches, bins etc. If it’s quiet
you could use the play-area. Plan a route as
varied as possible and decide on a starting and
finishing point.
Time each other to see how long each one
takes to complete the route. If you haven’t got a
watch: chant 1 elephant, 2 elephant, 3 elephant
to help you keep time. Attempt to beat your time
on your next turn until you reach your personal
best time. Congratulate the winner and have an
imaginary award ceremony!
