important to us and we will try to live
it every day. This will be a fun
challenge for all the MAT students as
we are only beginning in this role this
year.
In 2015 we hope that Marist will not
only grow as a school, but we will
also grow as Catholics together. We

POMPALIER HOUSE CAPTAINS By Kevin & Connor R When you were chosen to be house Captain, how did you feel? Zoisha: I felt so shocked and surprised. I wasn’t expecting that to happen. Henry: Relieved when I got in. What is it like to be a House Captain? Zoisha: It feels pressured and stressful. Henry: A big responsibility and exciting What are the rules for being a House Captain? Zoisha: Always be responsible for what you do Henry: Be organised Bernard House by Isaac & Kairo Julius and Sophie are the Bernard House Captains. Julius’ best memory was when senior people were helping him when he was a 5 year old junior who didn’t know where to go. Sophie’s best memory was when she was a year 1 and sitting in a circle eating lunch with her friends in the junior play ground. Julius is glad that he is a House Captain because he can help people especially if they need help in a house activity. Sophie is glad that she is a House Captain because she can help people in need of help and can welcome people to the Bernard House. The Chavoin House Captains Have you ever wondered what the Chavoin House Captain are like? Well, if you don’t know today is your day! We will be telling you about Charlie Duffy and Will Devine. These are some questions we asked them…… What are your hopes and dreams for Chavoin? Charlie and Will both want to win the year house points. If you were going to have a fun day, what would you do? Charlie said”Sports Day for Touch,Rippa Rugby and Soccer”. Will said “Cricket Day”. What’s your favourite food? Charlie said “Macaroni Cheese” and Will said “Sushi” What is your best memory in Marist? Charlie said “The day she met Poppy Morris” and Will said “Playing Rugby”. What music do you listen to? Charlie said “Ed Sheeran” and Will said “Everything”. What is your favourite sport? Charlie said “Soccer and Cricket” and Will said ”Cricket”. Who was your first teacher? Charlie said “Mrs Collins” and Will said “Mrs Walker” How did you feel when Ms Ryan said your name as Chavoin house captain? Charlie said “She felt nervous, she was scratching and she felt like she wanted to scream” and Will said “He felt happy” I hope you have learnt something about our Chavoin houses captains for 2015 By Laci Sampson and Isabella Caballero An interview with the Austin House Captains This year the Austin House Captains are Poppy Morris (Rm 9) and George Ogle (Rm 7). I asked them some questions so that we could get to know them. Q Who inspires you? George said Renaldo and Poppy said God. Q What is your favourite food? George said pizza and Poppy said sushi. Q What is your favourite music ? George likes Baby by Justin Beiber and Poppy likes ED SHEERAN. Q What is your favourite bit about being a house captain ? Poppy said that she can help kids and George said that little kids look up to him. Something to remember: Sister Austin started teaching in our school with Mother Bernard. She got her love for Mary from her grandmother. The Austin House motto is “Rejoice and always give thanks .” In 2015 we want our Austin House to be happy and to be gracious winners. An interview with Mrs Viall by Oliver Johns. Q What is your favourite song ? Happy by Pharell Willams Q Do you have pets ? Yes I have 3 cats of my own and 3 foster cats. Q What are their names ? The 3 of my own are called Alfie, Diesel and Fluffy. They are all boys . The 3 foster cats are called Joey( the mum) JayJay and JoJo who are all girls . Q Where did you grow up? I grew up in Huddersfield in England. Q Do you have a husband ? Yes his name is Ben. Q.What is your favourite tv show ? I like the show Bones. Q Who inspired you to become a teacher ? In the holidays I would round up all the kids and have them do stuff in my holiday club. Q What is your favourite food ? I like pad thai. Q Who is your super hero ? Bob Kerridge from the SPCA. Q What do you do in your spare time ? I help rescue cats, hedgehogs and birds. Q What is your favourite place ? I would really like to go to Mauritius. Q What is your favourite sport ? I like to watch Soccer and Basketball. Welcome to our school, Mrs Viall. We hope you enjoy your time at Marist School. Interview with Mrs Gorst-­‐Smith -­‐By Emily What did you do before you came to Marist Primary? I worked at Long Bay Primary School teaching the Year 5 and 6 children. What’s your favourite Marist moment so far? The burning of the ashes, the drama was really good and the singing was really nice. What’s the best thing about Marist? It’s definitely the way people treat each other, everybody wants to try to be like Mary, act like Mary, think like Mary. It makes you want to be a better person. What do you want to do at Marist to make it a better school? I would like to improve children’s learning by making it exciting. I want the children to really, really think about what they’re learning and how they will use it in the future so when they leave they feel really prepared for their next journey. Why did you come to Marist Primary? I missed being part of a Catholic school. I was looking forward to joining such a hard working team of teachers. What is your favourite thing to do? Swimming with my children and teaching maths. Can you name all the countries you have visited? Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Southern Ireland, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Madagascar, Tunisia, Greece, Greek Islands, Crete, Czech Republic, Mauritius, America, Austria…I think that’s all! Which country did you like the most and why? Italy! I love Italy; I love the architecture, the history, Vatican City where I saw the Pope in the Pope mobile. The food is fantastic, the language is amazing, just fabulous. I just love Italy! An interview with …… MS SALT by Angelina Q. What made you come to Marist Primary school ? A. I was offered job as a teacher aide and I was really pleased that they chose me. Q. Did anything inspire you while you were at Marist Primary? A. The closeness in the Marist family Q. What is your favourite thing about Marist Primary? A. The children especially the juniors Q. Why did you choose Marist Primary? A. I chose it because I have been here for 8 years and I have a long connection with Marist Primary and I would like to be involved. Q. Have you learnt anything? A.
