Grass Recycling Contest

Yorkton’s Environmental Committee is
once again promoting an initiative for our residents
to keep grass clippings out of our sanitary landfill.
The committee is excited to announce our second
annual
GRASS RECYCLING
contest
open to Yorkton residents this spring/summer
growing season.
The focus of this initiative is to promote alternative methods for lawn
maintenance and reduce the amount of grass clippings being
disposed in residential refuse.
A maximum of 25 participants will be selected to participate in this
year’s initiative. Participants must reside within Yorkton and be the
registered owner of the property being entered. Participants will be eligible to win the GRAND
PRIZE; a mulching mower sponsored by Logan Stevens Equipment or SECOND PRIZE; a backyard
composter sponsored by Canadian Tire.
Eligible participants must be able to:
 Mulch their grass clippings during lawn mowing or utilize composting practices with
collected grass clippings. Grass clippings must be utilized on the property, not
discarded in their residential refuse.
 Allow for placement of signage on your lawn identifying your participation in the
initiative.
 Submit record information on provided forms at the end of the growing season on your
grass recycling practices.
