island Alnö, where the annexe building is available for renting.

The Hörnignsholm mansion is located on the northeast shores of the island Alnö. On the mansion,
there is an annexe building with 6 bedrooms, 2 WC, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and 1 family room. Total
space is 120 m2. Each bedroom is 9 m2, and is equipped with 1 bed as standard setup. For longer
contracts there is a possibility to equip bedrooms with additional bed / desks according to separate
agreement.
In the family room there is a dining table with place for 6 persons and a 3+1+1 couch. TV is located in
the family room with the standard Swedish channels. The annexe building was renovated during
2015 / 2016 with a new kitchen and bathroom. The other rooms were refurbished with a gentle hand
to maintain some of the original atmosphere and history of the mansion.
The all new kitchen has double microwave ovens, full height refrigerator and a dining table for 4. The
bathroom is equipped with a shower cabin, a washer and drying facilities.
W-LAN with internet access is included in the rent and is available in the entire annexe building as
well as certain areas around the mansion. The W-LAN is connected to internet via a fiber optic cable
with 100 / 100 Mbps ensuring maximum reliability and connectivity. Coverage for 4G is also available
in the Telia network.
Birsta shopping center is located 10 minutes from Hörnignsholm, and to the center of Sundsvall there
is a 15 minutes ride with car. Public transport is also available. On the island Alnö there are several
facilities such as restaurants, shops, petrol stations, pharmacy, sports gym, driving range, dental and
health care etc. There are about 10 000 residents on Alnö, which sometimes is referred to as
“Northlands Hawaii”, due to its many beaches. Stornäsets National Park is located nearby, which also
is a Nature2000 preserve.
The basic price for the annexe building is 180 SEK / person and night. Linens not included. Separate
agreements for longer contracts, as well as larger groups is available upon request.

The history of Hörningsholms Mansion dates back to the 19’th century and the beginning of the
sawmill era in the Sundsvall region. The mansion was built in 1878 by J.A Enhörning, and in 1882 J.A
Enhörning built a sawmill on the islet Hörningsholmen. When J.A Enhörning passed away the
mansion and the sawmill was bought by Per-Olof Elf, who became synonymous with the
Hörningsholm sawmill and the Mansion. When Mr. Elf, or “Elf’en” as he was called, passed away as a
rich man in 1910 his son in law continued the operation until 1930 when the harsh times forced the
sawmill to close. Only foundations remains of the sawmill today. The Mansion was owned by
Skönvik, and thereafter SCA. In 1946 the Mansion was taken over by “Medelpads Kvinnors
semesterhemsförening” who initially used it as vacation homes for their members, and thence as
conference center. The current owners bought Hörningsholm in 2004 and started the journey in
restoring parts of the mansion to its original condition.
