Fore-rib club steak
VK Sandcastle bucket
It’s the steak that thinks it’s a club! The ultimate way to
satisfy your diners’ inner caveman, with the bone handle
perfect for picking up and gnawing. Part of the new Chop
House and Steak House Ranges from EBLEX, which use
crafty cuts to extract premium steaks from parts of the
animal that used to be consigned to the mincer. Good
news for chefs looking to maximise their meat margins.

It must be summer if drinks companies are coming out with
novelty serving devices that could also be used on the
beach. RTD brand VK is looking to get customers sharing
cocktails before the rain returns. Its suggested Beach Party
serve comprises VK Apple and Corky’s Sour Cherry,
topped with lemonade and ice.

Shandy Carib
Remember when the totally tropical
taste was Lilt? Well now the Carib
brewery is challenging that 1980s
classic for the title (our words, not
theirs) with the UK launch of Shandy
Carib, available in Ginger and Sorrel
variants. With an ABV of just 1.2 per cent
it is firmly ensconced in the low-alcohol
category.

What’s new in the pub this month
Westons Rosie’s Pig
Pistonhead
Abro lager
First it was Abba, more recently it has
been cider and now those Swedes are
trying to break the UK with a new lager.
It is already one of the biggest beers
in Sweden and owners hope that the
premium brew will wow English drinkers as
much as a Zlatan Ibrahimovic scissor-kick.

Named after an old Westons truck that was a “pig” to
start, this is a little lighter than its sibling Old Rosie.
Weighing in at 4.8 per cent ABV, this is your entry-level
cloudy cider.

Beers in cans are growing in popularity
and everyone loves a liquorice shot don’t
they? Well you can have both together
with this unique serve from Pistonhead,
which has launched a 4.6 per cent Kustom
Lager in a 330ml can (see page 26),
alongside its chilli-infused “Crude Oil” shot.
That should get the night started.
Or finished, nicely.

Lamb Weston potato dippers
“Revolutionary”, as the press release puts
it, might be over-baking it a little but there’s
no doubting the world of the wedge is
moving forward. These scoop-shaped
dippers make it easier to get a healthy
smattering of dips on your spud and can
be served as a snack or for sharing.

Peach Melba Cheesecake
Just how many different types of
cheesecake can there be? We could come
up with about a dozen ideas but that’s
nowt compared with the 200 creations
of the English Cheesecake Company.
Its latest hand-made offering features a
crunchy biscuit shell, sliced peaches and
raspberries and a demerara crumble.

Pimm’s Blackberry and Elderflower
Just as we had remembered exactly what fruit goes into
a Pimm’s and lemonade they go and bring out the first
ever special variant. It’s another option for the summer
and this one is best served with lemonade, blackberries
and a wedge of lime. Got it?
