1ST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
ADVENT
Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is a time of preparation for us,
a time to prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas. Everything we do
during this holy period should be aimed at preparing our minds and hearts
for Christ’s arrival. As individuals and families and households we
need to develop or continue Advent traditions. Whether it is setting
time aside for special prayer or carefully filling a manger or lighting
an Advent wreath or singing Christmas carols or reading Christmas poems
and stories, we need to do some different things and do them consistently
throughout Advent. This will help us have the both the right focus and
the right attitude.
HOSPITALITY
COFFEE & DONUTS: Don’t forget to stop by
St. Francis Hall between Masses to have Coffee
& Donuts with fellow parishioners! This is a great
way to meet new people, connect with old friends
& support our parish with your donation.
Donations are appreciated.
NOTE: Anyone who needs to have Communion
brought to them during Mass and cannot make it up
to the front pew, please inform an usher before Mass
so we can bring it to you.
If you have a family member in the hospital or
homebound, and wish them to receive the Eucharist,
please call the parish office (918-251-4000) and we will
make arrangements for a member of the Pastoral Care
committee to visit and bring the Eucharist to them.

IMPORTANT CONSTRUCTION INFO
Dear ParishionersConstruction continues on our campus. Here are a few of the
highlights of what is happening.
• The parking immediately around the church remains closed
as they remove the current pavement and regrade the parking lot
in order to eliminate the flooding that would take place in front
of the church during heavy rains.
•
Although we knew there were pockets of unfit soil due to
the pretesting that was done, we have had the misfortune to
discover that there is a very large area of soil that is not suitable
to support the new parking. This issue is an expensive discovery
because they will have to remove more dirt than expected and
bring in stable soil in order to proceed. We anticipate this extra
cost coming in between $30,000-50,000.
• With this extra expense, we are looking at other ways to
save money in this project.
WEDNESDAYS AT THE CATHEDRAL
HAITI MISSION TEAM PRESENTATION ON RECENT TRIP
The team of seven that went to Haiti this month is back and
pleased to report their mission was a success. We will be
having a presentation about the recent trip to the Kobonal
Haiti Mission after the 5 p.m. mass on Saturday, Dec. 5, in St.
Francis Hall. This event is a good opportunity to learn about
what our parish mission team does and how you can
get involved.
Thanks to St. Anne’s parishioners and others for your generosity in donations. In addition to taking down the rest of the
donated pot holders and aprons, we were able to send 254
backpacks to Haiti. These backpacks were collected at the
end of last school year from students at seven area Catholic
schools. Additionally, St. Anne’s parishioners both donated
and sewed backpacks.
St. Anne’s Parish collected white and navy socks earlier this
year for Kobonal Mission students. Combined with socks
donated by St. Pius X Catholic School, 646 pairs of socks
were distributed by our team to the mission’s students.
St. Anne’s parishioners also donated 405 Blessing Bags containing a washcloth and soaps, which were all taken to Haiti
and distributed.
Thank you for your support of this wonderful mission!
•
With this additional work, the parking lot will continue to
function as it is until December 21, 2015 weather permitting.
• We are still planning to be out of the main church from
December 7-21, 2015 while the lighting and flooring updates are
made in the church. Daily Mass will be in Dabrowski Hall and
our Sunday masses will be in the Parish Hall.
• We will be back in the church with our parking lots open in
time for Christmas!
Please continue to pray for the success of this project. To those
who have given to this campaign, thank you for your support. If
you have not made a pledge to support our growth, please consider doing so. Together we can build for the future and eliminate our debt.
The new lector workbooks are available for
pick up at the East entrance of the church.
