We pray for God's comfort to your family. Cindy Hentz Mar 12, 2017 09:09 PM Steve will always have a special place in my heart and in my CMS memories. Post CMS, he prepared me everyday with weather reports. Most importantly, we would text each other through every Orioles game! We both loved our O's relationship and I will miss his play-by-play texts. It was an honor for him to call me his friend and to have him as mine. I miss him terribly already. He was a good guy with a special spirit! Dana Pryor Mar 12, 2017 09:20 PM Steve was one of the most caring and kind people I had the honor to call friend. I will miss his many rhymes and gentle humor. He had a kind heart and will not be forgotten. May your memories comfort you at this time Angela Corbin Mar 13, 2017 09:07 AM My condolences to the Greenberg family. Steve was a card and always kept me laughing. The time he told me my skirt was too short was the one day that I became upset with him but he was right. To know him was to love him. Beth Lloyd Mar 13, 2017 09:20 AM Jacob and Miriam, I am so sorry for the loss of your Uncle Steve. I will always remember his love for both of you, his rhymes, and how he enjoyed his shows like Mr. Ed and Patty Duke. It was a pleasure to know him. My thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. Terry Pratt Mar 13, 2017 09:47 AM Steve was a treasure I'll always cherish. I will always remember being "The Pratt"....I will miss his kindness and rhyming humor. After retirement (both of ours) he continued to stay in touch and share his activities and lunch dates with friends and visits to CMS. We texted constantly last fall about his love of baseball and the exciting playoffs. He kept me routinely kept me posted about how long he'd been retired and how much he enjoyed it. When I traveled he always asked that I let him know when I was home safe. Steve was family. What an honor and privilege to have had him in my life. I'm so sorry for our loss.... Todd Wilson Mar 13, 2017 10:19 AM So sad to hear of Steve's passing. He had a good sense of humor and always took time to chat about what was going on and topics of interest. Ginni Hain Mar 13, 2017 12:23 PM Steve blessed the lives of his work family. We loved his humor, his rhymes, and the nicknames he assigned us. Mine was "the Gin-Gin." I remember the day that he chided Angela for wearing her short skirt (see her post) and there was the time I said "Hey Steve, we match! We're both wearing pink shirts!" He said "No we don't. Your shirt is peach." One of my favorite memories was the day I told him we needed to meet to discuss a special project. (He loved non-routine work.) I will never forget his response. "I'm eager to learn about it." Eager? Who says that? .... Our Steve! He brought us so much joy. And when he retired, he learned to text and attach photos. Well, let the games begin. He cracked us up. He had a network of text buddies. I remember trying to teach him to save information in the address book. He didn't want to. He simply memorized EVERYONE'S phone number. I could go on. The short of it is that we love you, Steve. Your love enriched us so. Thank you for all you taught me. I will never forget you. Enjoy your second retirement in God's peace. Xxoo Brian R. Pabst Mar 13, 2017 02:06 PM Hello Friends: I have known Steve Greenberg as a CMS colleague and friend since April 2000. I first met Steve when I noticed him saving in the South Building's men's restroom and commented, "Boy, that's a nice razor!" He replied, "Well, it's from Family Dollar, and I got a good deal on it." That was the beginning of a good, long standing friendship! As others have noted, Steve had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved it when folks would imitate President John Kennedy, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, and President Richard Nixon. He, too, could attempt very good imitations of these individuals, which engendered a good many laughs! Steve was a devotee of the old classic TV shows, such as "Mr. Ed," "The Donna Reed Show," "Hazel," etc., and loved to talk about them. I am so happy he worked so hard to stay in touch with me and other former CMS friends and retirees. He really made a difference in our lives. In summation, I will always remember my friend Steve with a smile, something he always endeavored to create when you were around him. May he rest in eternal peace. Ronetta Randle Mar 13, 2017 05:16 PM I had the privilege of working with Steve, and having him as a friend. Steve was special to me because he knew how to make me smile with his compliments, stories, and funny names he made up like "Randle the handle." I'm going to miss his rhymes, weather forecast text messages, numerous phone calls and occasional surprise visits to CMS. Most of all I will miss his smiling face, and funny sense of humor. Gone but never forgotten. Kate King Mar 13, 2017 06:35 PM Steve's gift was making me slow down during the hyper momentum of the CMS work day & smell the roses. Come see the new picture in his cube. Stop & listen to his recent, wonderfully silly rhyme or an observation about a colleague. See what a fantastic job the seamstress did expanding the waistline of his famous green pants. How about them Os, or the weather or whatever. Steve's light will continue to shine bright through such memories. Anita Brownstein Mar 13, 2017 07:51 PM Steve was a neighbor at 130 Slade. He was a kind and gentle person. He will be missed. Ellen Blackwell Mar 16, 2017 01:59 PM So sad to hear about Steve, who I worked with at CMS. Steve was always kind, courteous, and effective in helping me no matter what the task, or how high the bar. He was game to figure it out, and get the job done in a fun manner. Susan Hill Mar 17, 2017 07:32 PM Steve was deeply devoted to civil service and took pride in his work. Those of us who were able to see into his heart and appreciate the gentle, funny, loving man he was benefitted far more from their relationship than he. My relationship with Steve challenged me to step out of myself and foster the goodness in another. I am forever changed. My condolences to the Greenberg Family.
